I totally agree with your thoughts! Before reading it, I had seen so many people talk about how weak it was compared to later books (I’ve also learned that a lot of those people seem to judge a book solely on how broken the characters are, so this book does have less broken characters than Mistborn and Stormlight, so maybe that is why). However, I read it and thought it was great! I loved the characters and their arcs, and the only major weakness I saw in it was that the king’s cult subplot felt a little random and out of place. Otherwise, excellent book!

I think I've suggested this once before but just today Dan Brown announced his new book in the Robert Langdon Series. So please read (4 me) the previous ones, and maybe record your experience. I would really appreciate it if you read the 5 which are Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code, The Secret History, Inferno, and The Origin.

Okay i saw you pick up blood of elves. Just wanna let you know that that book is not technically the first book in the series, even though it is marketed as such. The first two books are sets of short stories that, even though might seem trivial in the actual understanding of the series, they are not.

@PeterOlszewski you will not regret it the cast is so good it can be long or short you can read the first trilogy and stop since the main povs get their conclusions there or continue to read the standalones and the second trilogy each standalone and each trilogy has it's own unique cast and yet somehow funny like really funny these are some of the worst darkest characters but keep making me laugh First trilogy has 6 povs 3 main and 3 secondary i will give synopsis for the three mains

@@PeterOlszewski Is a three generation story that unravels the history of Chile, up until the rise of Pinochet. One of the worst dictators ever in Latin America. It follows Clara, a young girl who has telekinetic and clairvoyance powers since she was born but became scared of them when she foreshadows the death of a close relative and fails to save her sister. Since that moment she decides to never speak a word again, until years later, when the fionceé of her sister returns and she says: we should get married. It's truly a beautiful story with subtle magic elements (hence the genre of the book is Magical realism) that enhances the plot. It even has a movie adaptation back from 1993 with big names like Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Winona Ryder. Hope you give it a chance someday, even the movie is great.

Peter! I’d been waiting for this video! Glad you like Elantris, I think it really holds up. The three opening lines are still great hooks. Take a break but then definitely read Mistborn! That trilogy will blow your mind. Promise. The bookshop visits keep making me jealous and I’m still excited about the book club! I read Piranesi only a few months ago, so I’ll skip February, but it’s an amazing read, so I can’t wait for you to read it. (And also Mistborn.) Btw, if this video is an indication, you may have missed a final “post credits” scene with Hoid! It’s the final scene in the book after the Aon glossary and extra stuff! It tells you something about what he’s doing there. Read it if you skipped it! And I hope you can start seeing the connections Brandon has been building between his series! A few seons and a few Elantrians have made appearances in Stormlight already!
@PeterOlszewski14 күн бұрын
Oh now way! I don’t realize there was something after the glossary! Thank you so much! I will go back and read it now! I think I may need to reread Stormlight after I finish all of his books so I can see all the different details I missed. :)

@@PeterOlszewski Haha I’m glad I caught you there, then! It’s a scene Brandon included in the 10th anniversary edition. There’s small hints throughout a few books about Hoid’s goals and this scene is one of them. Brandon is currently working on Mistborn Era 3, and he’ll also write two sequels to Elantris. We’ll only get these books when he’s done with all five of them, but it’s one of the things he’ll get to pretty soon. Also, in Arcanum Unbounded, there’s the Hope of Elantris, which is like an extra chapter to Elantris. (And while you’re at it, you can read The Emperor’s Soul, which takes place on the same planet but on a different continent and which is one of Brandon’s best short fiction works.) So, enjoy Piranesi! And The Fifth Season! (Really great book and series.) And Mistborn! :)
