Just scrape the silicone or what ever covering the screws then take screws out once screws are removed take flat head screw driver an pop back off back is metal

I wish it was that easy. That material does NOT just scrape off and does a real good job of plugging the screw heads. After I get set up again, I may experiment with some more methods.

If you’re doing several- the bottom makes a great mechanic’s creeper. Use the bolts from the lens assembly with the springs positioned on the bottom, saw the other scrap wood so it makes an even stack in the middle, drill holes on the four corners of said stack and through the creeper, affix the bolts and boom, you’ve fashioned yourself a nice rolling stool and your back will thank you.

Those mirrors are quite valuable and useful, btw, if you have the time to research them and experiment. If not, you can look them up to find out whether they have glass mirrors or plastic in order to bypass the problem entirely.

I made a swimming pool out of the plastic shell yesterday…. Admittedly, I have to store the actual glass tube part of the crt assembly because I don’t feel confident enough with my ability to process them to full neutrality or fully safely(I’m thinking about going back to school specifically because of this issue actually)… but I use, repurpose, or scrap for profit every other part of them. They’re just neat!

Like any biz, you need to do your due diligence before you dive in. Is there sufficient source material to allow you to make a living at this in your area - population and business density. How will you sell the material. Will there be shipping costs involved. Do you have transportation. Do you intend to go full time or will this be a side gig. I'm saying you need to create a fancy biz plan BUT you do need to plan. Planning doesn't always mean success BUT it does allow you to mitigate your risks.

Good evening Shark, I have recently sub to your channel and I have been going back to some of your older videos and I will say that you come across some pretty awesome finds. This one is no different. Have you done a video that actually strip down the boards and giving a description of the many components and what they hold inside as far as precious metals. Take care and I am going to continue to watch your older video.

Welcome to the channel Dewey. Since I don't depopulate boards much I don't have the specific video you're asking for. I do talk about various components in my vids but do not have one dedicated to depopulating.

How much does removing the ICs and flat packets from boards affect their value at the yard? Does it change their grading?
@sharkscrapper
@sharkscrapper Ай бұрын
Yes it changes the value of the boards. How much depends on how many you remove and your buyer. You can easily downgrade a higher grade board to low grade by removing the chips.
