If it’s like any other ratcheting cutters I think it should be able to close down by hand closer to the wire before hitting the trigger!

It might, I haven't wanted to force the blade yet. I need to see if there's an online owner's manual so I can find out for sure.

I'm probably gonna go against everyone here but that dewalt tool is really slow. It would frustrate me a lot to wait 20-30 seconds to cut a wire. I'd look for some motor and some gears to reduce speed and increase torque and have some kind of wheel with blades that turns slowly, you'd then just slide the wire under the blade. Just look at various videos with machines for cutting firewood, splitting logs

Can that Stripmeister really not handle longer lengths of that cable? I own a "Happy Buy" brand clone of that Stripmeister (only single speed but also only 1/3 of the price) and I've fed it many many 8 to 10 foot lengths of 4/00 and it worked great and didn't skip a beat.

Yes - The Stripmeister can absolutely handle longer lengths. In one of my vids I think I ran about 10 feet of cable, maybe longer, through it. But I've found that wrestling with the longer lengths verses just cutting them down is easier for me.

Why do you call the pvc skin trash. It is recyclable and although light pays better than tin shred per weight.

I call it trash because right now I have no buyer for it, so it goes in the trash. I had a plastic buyer a few years ago. He changed his business model and eventually went out of biz. I would love to have a plastic buyer again because I hate throwing this in the trash, my only option at this time.
