Such a rare raagam, played brilliantly by the maestro. Seconding the vote of thanks to David for hosting this album.

Sublime beyond description; almost intolerably beautiful. This work in particular sits on the same shelf with the eternal masterworks of the entire 20th. c.: as daring as Stravinsky's Sacre du Printemps and as profound as Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra.

We had the LP of this in mid 80s and used to listen very regularly. The sound effect used to amaze me as it does even today. Pleased I could find this in YT. Thanks to the person who posted that here 👍

About 40 years ago I heard this for the first time. Finding it insanely addictive, I must have replayed it a thousand times. And today, it sounds like the first time. It speaks to my soul in such an eloquent, seductive manner. You have my utmost gratitude for sharing this unparalleled treasure with us.

This album was a part of daily meditation,i would listen while watching the golden sun reflecting on lake Ponchatrain in Nola.Years later walking through union station in L.A.,i heard a very familiar sound coming through a section of the stations courtyard and to my surprise,it was L.Shankar playing his double violin with a band,AWESOME,one of my musical heroes, got the chance to chat with him and the band...om shanti Shankar
