@michellecreech154, pretty much everything I know about this kind of issue is in this video. In fact, when I have this problem, I come back and watch my own video! If what I show it not working, your best bet is to contact Fanatec support. If that's not getting you anywhere, ask your specific questions or describe your issues here as a comment and I or someone else may be able to help you. That way, you'd be potentially getting help from more than just me.

No good ideas. It sounds like a connection issue, like it's not making good contact when attached. But that doesn't explain why the wheel works on other bases or why other wheels work on that base. I guess just make sure the FW is up to date on everything?

@@waltersbg All FW is up to date, it does sometimes show the V2.5 wheel FW was 0, then it’ll disconnect and reconnect and show FW 1.0.2.0 (This is also the FW it shows on my other base that it works on) so definitely sounds like a connection issue. It will also sometimes show as the F1 version of the V2.5 and Universal hub V2, before then disconnecting and reconnecting. Meanwhile not registering any button inputs. I have read that the the Formula V2.5 has a new chip in it which now has a different FW to the old V2.5 wheels (Currently run on V47) so my only guess is that. But doesn’t explain why it’ll work on a different base. I do have a support ticket open with fanatec to hopefully send the base and wheel off for RMA so they can see it first hand but I’ve had no response for over a week..

That's cool. I wonder if it looks anything like it does in the flight sim. I wouldn't recommend trying to get there by airplane. 😁

Off the top of my head, I can't think what would be wrong. I know VJoy works in MSFS. But I haven't been using the method shown in this video for quite a long time. As mentioned in the pinned comment, I have switched to using the Authentikit Tuning App. It works at least as well as what I showed here and is simpler. That's not something I'm familiar with. I don't know if anything in my video will help with a misbehaving wheel, since it's really meant to help with a misbehaving base.

When you plug in any USB device, the device manager should refresh and list the new device. If, when you plug in your wheel, you don't see any changes at all in device manager, then it seems like your wheel is not being detected at all. Like maybe the wheel base is not powered? Did you hit the power button on the wheelbase and make sure it's lit up? Or the USB cable is bad? Or you need to try a different USB port on your PC? If none of those seem to be the case, then maybe the wheelbase is bad. Good luck!

I'm sorry that I do not speak Italian. Hopefully you will understand my reply. I do not know what else you can try. Just make sure that you delete ALL the Fanatec entries in Device Manager with the wheel disconnected and then try again. Good Luck. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

I have a brand new cs dd from fanatec same issue after firmware now cant use the wheel.This video has massively helped me understand how installing devices works now and how to fix isses. Problem i have is i have tied all of this but keep having same issue. i have 3 devices showing now but one has the HID compliant game controller missing still. any ide on how to get that back? i see you mentioned "fanatec bootloader and fanatec firmware com port ones" wher can i find these as i want to remove all fanatec from my pc and try again. Oh man, when I first started iRacing and tried the MX5, I told anybody who would listen that it was "like driving on ice". I couldn't believe people liked it! Cold tires can be part of it. I was told by someone who knows to warm the tires for a couple of laps if you can, but don't "slide" the tires (try to avoid the squealing sound) while warming the tires. But, more than cold tires, you have to learn that the MX5 is a very "loose" car (not stiff suspension). If you brake at all hard while turning, you can easily cause oversteer. Same if you get too hard on the throttle while turning, you can cause understeer. That doesn't mean you need to drive slow. It means you need to be aware of whether you're putting grip on the front tires (braking) or on the rear tires (getting off the brakes or accelerating). If you can find a spot where you normally have trouble with it spinning, go there and try more gentle braking and/or trail braking, if you know what that is. I bet you will find that it is less prone to spin. It actually IS really fun once you figure out this behavior. Good luck!

@@waltersbg Thanks mate that's very helpful!! The MX5 used to be a lot easier to drive btw; but since the tire patch like a year ago, it has been super slippery. I didn't prolong my iRacing sub because of it, it was just too frustrating! But now I'm picking it up again, I really want to learn it. I am getting better at it, and your tips are helpful! Especially the tire warmup tip to not "squeal" them - I was already wondering whether that mattered, I guess it does! Another thing that I learned myself, was to shift down a lot later than I used to. Shifting down when the RPM is still too high up makes the car very slippery; I think you then need to "blip the throttle" to match the wheel RPM with the ground velocity, but that just doesn't come natural to me, so I just wait longer before downshifting now, which does help a bunch. Anyway, I doubt the slipperiness of the MX5 is very realistic; else all real life MX5s ever produced would have crashed out by now lol :D but I guess we'll just need to adapt to it in iRacing!

@@rickyspanish4792 Glad you're getting used to it. I do enjoy driving it and I guess it's great practice for how to handle (and take advantage of) the weight shift in a car. Knowing that it gets very slippery in the back end when the weight is on the front tires (lifting, braking, downshifting), you can use that to your advantage to get wanted rotation in a corner. On downshifting, I do enable auto blip but in cases where I want to downshift a little early, I will also manually blip the throttle. Have fun and good luck!

Happy to hear you found useful info! Although I am not new to sim racing I am brand new to iRacing. I haven't seen this ability to ghost drive in an actual online race in any other Sim. It's very cool! Only problem is that when I get into the race for real I have to remember that the cars are no longer ghosts and I shouldn't try to drive through them! 😄

I'm fairly new, this was my first season. I was nervous thinking there would be all kinds of mither from more experienced people, but it's been fine, just jump in and don't worry about the rating to start.

And yeah that is really interesting about the ghosting, I had never seen that in other videos. Great info thanks.

If you did not see any exclamation points in the Device Manager, then this video was not for you. This video is for people who have gotten corrupted in Device Manager, at which point reinstalling does not help. Glad you got your fixed with a reinstall! Hopefully everybody will find the method that works for them.

If you select the "show hidden devices" option, as shown in the video, then the entries should not disappear when you unplug the wheel. You'll also want to be using the "devices by container" option, as shown in the video, to make it easier to see the Fanatc entries. At any rate, you really only need to uninstall the drivers from device manager if you are having an issue or if any are shown with an exclamation mark.
