Fixing Missing Fanatec Wheel Base (CSL-DD) with Windows Device Manager

What a super super thanks I give you!!!!! Solved my problem. Déleting the "fanatec wheel" in double but not the "update port" one, rebooting, Plugging the csl dd, and voila !!!!!!! Thank you so much !!!

IIn my case, the USB Input Device was "Disabled" so I just had to re-enable it to fix the issue. Go figure?!! Super valuable video, saved me a ton of troubleshooting, thank you!!!

This didn't fix my issue, but I ended up finding out my stem was slightly disconnected so just had to loosen it and push the stem back in, tighten and it was good to go.

fanatec software borked on a firmware update on my new wheel, i lost compatibility mode and it’s been bugging me for a few days now. uninstalled drivers and reinstalled and it was all still not working as it should. luckily i stumbled on this, your video has helped me so much, i deleted all the entries including some fanatec bootloader and fanatec firmware com port ones, reinstalled drivers and firmware and completely fixed it! thanks so much!!!😊

Glad it helped! I had the exact same thing happen a couple of weeks ago during a firmware update. I ended up having to come back and watch my own video to figure out how to fix it! So I'm really glad it worked! 😄

I have a brand new cs dd from fanatec same issue after firmware now cant use the wheel.This video has massively helped me understand how installing devices works now and how to fix isses. Problem i have is i have tied all of this but keep having same issue. i have 3 devices showing now but one has the HID compliant game controller missing still. any ide on how to get that back? i see you mentioned "fanatec bootloader and fanatec firmware com port ones" wher can i find these as i want to remove all fanatec from my pc and try again. I have the issue of when I plug in my formula v2.5 the dd pro start flashing all the colors and won’t let me do anything on the control panel. But if I plug in another wheel everything works perfectly fine. Any advice? Do you think this will work?

That's not something I'm familiar with. I don't know if anything in my video will help with a misbehaving wheel, since it's really meant to help with a misbehaving base.

I have just bought a CSL DD and a Formula V2.5 wheel, the base is detecting the wheel but isn’t detecting any button inputs and then randomly disconnecting. If I attach a different wheel to the base it works. But if I attach the V2.5 to a different base that also works. Just doesn’t work when I put the CSL DD and Formula V2.5 together, any ideas?

No good ideas. It sounds like a connection issue, like it's not making good contact when attached. But that doesn't explain why the wheel works on other bases or why other wheels work on that base. I guess just make sure the FW is up to date on everything?

@@waltersbg All FW is up to date, it does sometimes show the V2.5 wheel FW was 0, then it’ll disconnect and reconnect and show FW 1.0.2.0 (This is also the FW it shows on my other base that it works on) so definitely sounds like a connection issue. It will also sometimes show as the F1 version of the V2.5 and Universal hub V2, before then disconnecting and reconnecting. Meanwhile not registering any button inputs. I have read that the the Formula V2.5 has a new chip in it which now has a different FW to the old V2.5 wheels (Currently run on V47) so my only guess is that. But doesn’t explain why it’ll work on a different base. I do have a support ticket open with fanatec to hopefully send the base and wheel off for RMA so they can see it first hand but I’ve had no response for over a week..

I bought a DD1 I updated the drivers and firmware and then I lost all vibration effects in Dirt rally 2 but other games it works. I try'd downgrading to older firmware and drivers and it didn't fix it now it's stuck without vibration on DR2. I raised the issue with Fanatec and they instead blamed my PC or told me it must be my fault somehow maby my ffb settings are wrong etc what a load of nonsense I hate fanacrap. What ever that update did it messed something up. I want to jump off the sinking ship that is Fanatec.

I'm sorry that I do not speak Italian. Hopefully you will understand my reply. I do not know what else you can try. Just make sure that you delete ALL the Fanatec entries in Device Manager with the wheel disconnected and then try again. Good Luck. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

If what I show it not working, your best bet is to contact Fanatec support. If that's not getting you anywhere, ask your specific questions or describe your issues here as a comment and I or someone else may be able to help you. That way, you'd be potentially getting help from more than just me.

I'm not sure if I know how to help. First of all, finding things in device manager can be a real challenge, which is why you want to use the "devices by container" option. Also, any device not currently connected and powered on will be hidden, which is why you want to use the "show hidden devices" option. If it definitely does not show up, even after doing these steps, then the wheel base may not be powered on, or the cable may be bad, or the USB port on the PC may be off/bad. It could also be a bad wheel base. If possible, you could try a different cable or port on your PC.

When you plug in any USB device, the device manager should refresh and list the new device. If, when you plug in your wheel, you don't see any changes at all in device manager, then it seems like your wheel is not being detected at all. Like maybe the wheel base is not powered? Did you hit the power button on the wheelbase and make sure it's lit up? Or the USB cable is bad? Or you need to try a different USB port on your PC? If none of those seem to be the case, then maybe the wheelbase is bad. Good luck!

As soon as i unplug the wheel it dissappears from device manager. So i cant uninstall them.

If you select the "show hidden devices" option, as shown in the video, then the entries should not disappear when you unplug the wheel. You'll also want to be using the "devices by container" option, as shown in the video, to make it easier to see the Fanatc entries. At any rate, you really only need to uninstall the drivers from device manager if you are having an issue or if any are shown with an exclamation mark.

Well, I don't think all the Fanatec wheels have an Xbox mode. And, if you don't use it on an Xbox, you don't need Xbox mode anyway.

@@waltersbg the msg was because i have an xbox and there is no drivers for xbox in the files, just pc.. Mine was because they sent me a frigging wheel for ps and pc not xbox and pc. Meaning the drivers are not there as it in the chip of the wheel not the base.

If you did not see any exclamation points in the Device Manager, then this video was not for you. This video is for people who have gotten corrupted in Device Manager, at which point reinstalling does not help. Glad you got your fixed with a reinstall! Hopefully everybody will find the method that works for them.
