Hi I have an old 1986 Monster Beetle and I'm trying to change the CV axle complete with dogbones but I don't know where to find them. Can you tell me what to look for in detail or where to buy them? Thanks a lot

@rodneysrcgarage25124 күн бұрын
They are because they are 1/6th the size of a model car which is only small
@modzilla744 күн бұрын
@rodneysrcgarage2512 yeah , maybe so. But it's misleading, and the only reason I'm watched was cuz I'm a big 1/6 th scale fan..not a diecast afficion .

They are 1:6 scale versions of the Tamiya hornet.

I was just getting back into the hobby when you say those were sold. I was completely oblivious to the fact that they existed until now that I see your video. What a great amount of details in such small cars.

In my quest to recreate all my most wanted Tamiyas in 1/64 I've found a 1/64 diecast Clodbuster by a company called Keido house. It's a low rider but with accurate livery. Nice to see a Ford Capri Mk1 as size ref :-) As you may know I'm a Capri nutter lol I have the black, blue and clear version of the Hornet. I got mine in 2008 I think. 1:87 (HO model railroad) cars fits perfect beside these as most "1:10" rigs today is closer to 1:8.5 scale (Axial, Traxxas etc) I also have the 1:10 coffee cars by UCC etc, which is 1:100 of real life, so 1:10th scale of 1:10th scale vehicles. Those has less details, but still fun to collect, not to mention perfect for a 1:10 garage! Holiday greetings from Norway. Richard
@AMPROEngineering5 күн бұрын
Oh yes I do know that! I love Capri's. Yes, the 1/87 cars work great in scaler builds for sure. Thanks to the huge 1/6 axial cars, they have inadvertently allowed 1/64 cars to work.

Nice I have a few of the RC tamiya buggies that were made by Tomy. I think you meant to put 1/64 scale in the title? Happy Holidays!
@michaelhoyle32665 күн бұрын
I believe they were marketed as 1/6 Scale verions of Tamiya's 1/10 buggies. So 1/6th of 1/10th.
@ShenRC5 күн бұрын
@@michaelhoyle3266 O that's weird?
@AMPROEngineering5 күн бұрын
I have the Tomy ones too. No these are 1/6th scale of the Hornet (that being 1/10 so now its a 1/60th?) but as they are technically 1/6 scale models of the Tamiya cars it makes things weird.
@ShenRC5 күн бұрын
@@AMPROEngineering yeah that is weird!
@Mini-z19945 күн бұрын

I thought the same and was about to ask where I could throw my money to purchase a 1/6th hornet!

@@AMPROEngineeringtechnically you don’t need any RC but only having things you need without anything you want is very unMerican. If you live in the western world you’re expected to indulge in the spoils of wants not needs. Tried mounting the control box inside my 1/14 Scania R620 cab the wires are not long enough to reach the tailend light clusters. and too long for the front end but will try lengthening the cables for the rear light clusters, just need to find the correct gauge of cable. otherwise all ok equipment

Yes wire length is a great thing to mention. For applications where you are trying to keep things neat and tidy and on a large RC application, this can be a major issue.

So my Dad bought a Tamiya Boomerang in '86, and 8yr old me helped him build it. I loved that Boomerang and bugged him to drive it nonstop. A few months later he came hime with a pair of these exact buggies. I took the Red #49(mhz) and the white #27(mhz) which my brother wanted. We got the higher voltage rechargable batts(I used yellow Sanyo batts with red writing, my brother used a generic brand and I always killed him in races lol) and these actually had a fairly respectable speed for toy grade in the 80's! We ran those cars until they died yrs later (thinking back, Im blown away by how much abuse these took and kept going 😆) I was able to purchase a MINT Boomerang a cpl yrs ago, but now want to add these to the collection for nostalgia reasons. Thank you for this vid! Also, the reason you could only steer while moving was to avoid servo burn out. As a kid, your hands would be too small to one hand both joysticks like you did in the vid. The car had to be moving fwd/rev to activate the steering function, so both hands had to be on the controller, and it wouldnt turn unless moving, meaning the chances of a kid holding/messing with, the car AND driving/turning were Very slim. It was a way of avoiding Customer service calls & warranty claims. Until servo's and tech got better/more sophisticated.
@AMPROEngineering15 күн бұрын
Great story! Thank you for sharing! Yeah those electromagnetic servos could be an issue of they where accidentally left engaged. I didnt think about that!
