Is it safe flying in a helicopter ? With so many accidents that result in majority of fatalities, instead of survival, do you believe many of these crashes could have been avoided ?
@sinfulldoubt3 күн бұрын
Many of them can be avoided, just like most accidents in other aspects of life. It's hard to say it's fully safe flying a helicopter though, there's always risks involved. We just have to mitigate them as best we can

On average, how many round trips before you have to refuel?
@sinfulldoubt9 күн бұрын
Umm it's been a bit since I've done this but if I remember right, each leg burned about 50-75 lbs depending on wait time. So with the typical 500 lb fuel load, I'd take about 6 legs before I'd grab fuel. But if I had a while between legs, I'd just top it off again

I honestly can't remember. They were lower than we would ever fly in. Typically we wanted 1500-2k foot ceilings for tours. Charters I would be comfortable down to about 1k feet before it wasn't worth the risk

This is only viable in the USA where gasoline is cheap! Where I live, gasoline is $7.00 per Gallon, so it's too expensive to fly aircraft for this job. We tow trailers or tractors with big fans on them to dry the trees from the rows underneath. Diesel is far cheaper, $4.60 per Gallon.
