Hey all! just wanted to share this video to give you a glimpse of what it is like to be a helicopter charter pilot in New York City. Hope you enjoy and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

That's some top quality content dude! Love all the insights and the map over-lays. Really helps get a better overall picture of what is happening. Though even without all that, the stunning views out of the window make this an incredible watch.

For anyone savy in app design, this series shows some obvious room for improvement. The man spends half the time texting and assigning seats to passengers. Surely someone smarter than I can make an app for this company that allows for single click takeoff/approach/landing/boarding and whatever else this company uses. It distracts from his ability to safety operate the aircraft for which i see no other errors

I work in quality system improvement and 100% agree. Voice activation control systems would eliminate all the manual inputs.

Thanks! Yeah I had an audio cable plugged into the GoPro but it didn't record the radios which sucked. I wish I recorded more days out there

Great, high quality content. I have a very realistic VR helicopter setup in Flight Simulator and have been 'coming and going' over NYC for about a year. You can imagine how interesting this route is! You pointing out the landmarks and routes will add a whole new element of realism for me too. Thanks for posting, I will eagerly watch out for more.

@@sinfulldoubt DCS has always been great. But MSFS2020 is amazing and promises an even better experience when MSFS2024 is released. You don't need them though - you have the real toys at your disposal! 😁

Outstanding work my friend. I'm fascinated with rotary wing aircraft. I grew up not far from there and it's good to see the old stomping grounds. Plus I could really go for a Taylor Ham sangwich.

Awesome stuff. Did a ton of air assault missions over seas. We used to get dropped off un UH-60's and chinooks. Always loved rotary wing aircraft.

Outstanding quality! Thanks. Why should the floats be disarmed once at higher altitude and not constantly kept when flying above water? Is this to prevent misuse / that in case of emergency and autorotation the checklist includes rearming the floats anyway?

I'm retired center controller, fly King Airs and my C414A. Have flow LR31's, Falcon 900's, and B737-200 ages ago. Always loved helicopters, used to fly model ones and the flying around NYC always fascinated me so I really love these videos. Funny, when they called the traffic landing EWR, I immediately thought if you ever encountered any wake turbulence. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome videos, thanks! Just out of curiousity, are you reducing throttle during descends? Hard to tell by your hand's movements, I thought throttle is kept steady during the flight and governor adjusts RPM as required? Thanks!

Some of the most fun in aviation was flying rotors. Miss the low-level flying, confined area ops, and gunnery. Certainly better memories then not. Have not shaken a stick since 2004. 😳 But still push/pulling a control column. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.

I live in Jersey City, just below your flight path. Love seeing the routes you fly and having a better understanding of what's happening when helicopters pass overhead. I see your base from the 1&9 Passaic river bridge all the time.

Just an excellent video. The camera perspective is perfect -- we can see the you, the panel, and the scenery very well. (It would be nice to hear the radio traffic...) Like another responder, I'm off to try this flight in VR in MSFS. But, I'll be flying the Hype H145 instead ($11M in the real world). Thanks for the time and effort!

Hi there ! As others have said - I personally deeply love the no-nonsense approach that you bring to your videos : one angle throughout the flight, no voiceover, clear explanations laid out as written text (I found lately that videos are much more relaxing and pleasant to watch without voice all the time), no sponsored bs just plain and straight flying experience. As someone who's deeply interested in flying (mostly fixed wing but I love helis as well), I really appreciate your content, please keep it up.

Great video! I’ve taken that flight on Blade numerous times and it’s incredible the amount of work you guys do inside of a roughly 4 minute (?) flight. Any idea what that private (757?) was right next to the Brewster Pad? It looks awesome!

I just realized youre the guy whos cherry popping with helos :D you the same guy on the boat to0? you pretty cool man youre not lazying around for sure :) very nice video i was just lately learning NY flying on xplane with a 407 this vid was very helpful! but i still dont understand a lot of thing, for example i started hovertaxiing by myself i never thought this is an actual thing with skiddel helos. pretty cool

Nice videos! I listen to Newark Tower and always hear the copters...NY 35 etc....how many trips can you do in a normal day? VFR only? Be safe!

Hopefully I'll have some video up soon. Yeah VFR only and it wasn't uncommon to have 20+ legs in a day

Love this content, thanks for sharing! Could I ask how long your duty day is, typically? Or how that translates to flight time/segments?

Duty day was typically about 10 hours or until the flights were done. I was there in the off season and it was typical to have around 20-25 legs in a day

Thanks! The AC robs some power from the engine so it's best to turn off for takeoff and landing so you have all the power available. It's not really necessary every time but it's good practice
