Es excepcional la profundidad que logra dar Arrau a Beethoven. Cada nota tiene sentido, logra una interpretación totalmente coherente, medida pero a la vez inspirada

I keep revising my own comments on this video… I listen to Arrau and this piece so often … it evokes feelings, emotions and memories of days gone by… it’s simply beautiful … thank you Arrau for creating this masterpiece… I hope you play with Beethoven by your side now

We are not machines, calibrated to perfection in timing and intensity. We humans could never be perfect, totally perfect at anything. But there are some human beings who come very close at being at the top stage of perfection, in what they do, in what they practice and dedicate a lifetime to. Well, in my non-musically trained opinion, Maestro Claudio Arrau is one of them. And it takes a full life of continued practice. It takes loving slavery to a craft, to an instrument, to an artistic endeavor. Even an untrained ear in music like mine, can get to understand and appreciate that. My fingers are not physically trained in piano playing, but my mental gage in music appreciation is certainly trained and refined. And I can tell the difference between a concert pianist I understand and enjoy and one I do not. To me, Maestro Claudio Arrau was and is an unequalled master of his art, his trade. He was certainly one of the most dedicated musicians who ever lived. His playing repertoire is probably unmatched; his recordings are legendary and abundant. His followers and fanatical listeners are legions, worldwide. Many, many of us consider him to be the greatest concert pianist of the Twentieth Century. And most likely he was, and still is!

Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor is a delicate composition, full of romantic and emotional passages, as well as passionate moments. It requires someone like Claudio Arrau to bring it to life in the special manner in which he almost always does it and delivers it, in the manner that Schumann himself would want it in the open, most likely. This live concert, as orchestrated, and aged as it is, delivers it well!
