In this video we talk about losing interest in photography and finding a way to re-kindle the excitement we once found in making photographs. I also use an old zoom lens from the 1970's to make a spectacular 13x19 print of an old Barber 50 cent silver coin.
In this video I don't think I was quite clear about the lineage of my Vivitar Series 1, 70-210 f3.5 zoom lens. There were four versions produced. This lens is Version 1 of those four, introduced in 1974.
My SmugMug gallery for this video can be found here.

Thank you Ron, I always find your videos so motivating. Especially because you print the results each time very big. So you are really creating something instead of pixelpeeping. You are one of the few true photographers on youtube! I just bought the D300s with the 18-70 lens. This is indeed a great lens as you told us and I am having great fun using it. You motivated me to do some printing today!

Good Evening Ron! Dont beat yourself up too much, as Everybody goes through this from time to time. I know I do! The Creative process grinds to a halt, and we find ourselves looking for photo opportunities, and then we end up discouraged, depressed, and down on ourselves and our work. That is a great Coin and a great photo, taken with a great Camera, and iconic lens, by a pretty decent fellow behind it all! Take care of yourself! Stay safe and Happy Shooting.

Love spending time with your videos Ron. Not just for the images, the gear used and the lovely locations…but mostly the time you spend retelling the story of the photos. Lovely stuff, as per. Cheers from Arizona~ Peter

1,110 Subscribers now, Ron! (I just added my name to the list!). I have the same issue sometimes, "what to take picture of". For me, I sometimes just wait till the inspiration comes, and sometimes push my lazy a** out the door and take pictures of the grass in the back yard! (or whatever). Sometimes I just go on ebay and buy another $20 clunker lens to play with! Either way, I guess if we are enjoying whatever we chose to do with photography, that's the important thing! Love your vids and your work, thanks! -Jim, NC

Hey Ron-a nostalgic lens for sure, it actually performs very well, the macro is pretty good too, I have 2 of these lenses now. One for Nikon and one for M42 screw mount. Love using these old manual focus lenses for a change looks like you do too! Have a good one Ron.
