Great video man! I have such a dilemma right now. The dealership can get me a base level 2024 GR in november. (In Canada, we get the limited slip differential on ALL trim levels too.) BUT.... I also have the option for reserving a 2025 model which might be a years wait. I don't know if I should go for the '24 or wait for the '25. Are all the little updates worth it... hmmm

Why wouldn’t they? I’m currently crossing 40K now. A few people I know are in the same boat. A good number are now at 50,000 and some higher. All driven like they were designed. It’s an amazing car. Extremely solid.

@CarQuicks4 күн бұрын
They don’t catch out of fire from nowhere. You need more context to those sensational articles. But for some perspective, if you are truly interested in the GR Corolla… between 5-6000 have been sold in the US. The same exact motor is in the GR Yaris, built in the same factory. There are somewhere around, and I’m guessing, 15,000+ out in the world. We saw 2 articles about 2 GRCs where there has been documented questionable history on one of the cars. 1 of which was rebuilt. Don’t worry about any of that. The car is solid because if there was fires happening, you would have heard about this since the GR Yaris.

Sell it. That much horsepower from a small 3cyl won’t last. Get something with turbo 6 or V8, enjoy it, and hand it down to your kids. Plus you can drive it over 85 mph and still be under warranty 😂

Your engine hasn't burst into flames yet like so many others are doing? BTW Toyota isn't owning up to that they have an engine problem. Toyota is blaming the engine fires on everything else to put the engine fire blame back on the customer. One guy's car that burnt up Toyota said the car shows on car fax or whatever show accident damage to the front left & right. They said it said something about a hole in the block too from accident. Guy said he was behind an asphalt truck or something like that & he got rock chips on the front of the car & body shop had to repaint the front end. It wasn't like a collision accident. There was no hole in the engine block. That guy had like 30k miles & was a 2021 I think. Another guy was in a 2023 circuit edition with 9k miles driving down the road & his engine just caught fire. The entire car burned up. The denied his claim saying they pulled his car's onboard history & said it showed he went over 85 mph several times since he owned his circuit edition gr . So because of going over 85 mph in their "circuit edition performance GR" that is customer abuse & they denied his engine fire claim. If you own one of these you better buy a nice fire extinguisher & carry it in the car.

So many others? You mean 2 of the thousands that have been sold?
@MercedesE63S-AMG3 күн бұрын
@chriswicks124 Like I said, you only hear of these two because their insurance did not cover the car. One didn't have insurance at all & the other one didn't have gap insurance & he overpaid for the car. There are more but you aren't going to see the complaints because insurance paid their's off so they were satisfied. To see those cars you would have to monitor the inventories at insurance car auctions like coparts & so on to see them all. They auction off totally burned out car shells too at these auctions not just wrecked.

Get rid of the gauze air filter asap. The tiny bump in power is not worth the amount of contaminants those filters allow into the engine.

Will the new GR catch fire as well as the old one?
@CarQuicks8 күн бұрын
The current GR Corolla doesn't catch on fire. I know that's short in answer, but let me give some context, because this comes up a lot, as of recent... unfortunately. There are about 6,000 GR Corollas that have been sold in the US. Two of them caught on fire, and with a lot of misinformation and missing evidence. The jury is still out on exactly how those fires started. One of those cars was rebuilt from an accident for example. Myself and a few friends have been driving these cars well past 30,000 miles, daily, modified as well, track days, back roads... this car is SOLID. An amazing performer and not something you should worry about, or fear over a couple sensationalized stories. For reference, the metric on car fires for say a Ford F150 is 10 times higher than a GR Corolla. Go enjoy the car and have fun!

yooo is the corolla fuel efficient?
@CarQuicks8 күн бұрын
By the standards of a base Corolla, I wouldn't say its efficient because you have to use 91/93 octane fuel and I can get this car under 15 MPG if you are driving it hard. Commuting and normal daily activities will have you around 25-30MPG.

I have a 2024 premium, and I can't wait to trade it in for the automatic. I am not hating on the manual. I have owned many, but this car's manual just doesn't drive like a typical manual it feels oddly different than any car I have ever owned with it. Plus, the weak clutch and transmission is a large weak spot for this car (besides the valves) and the amount of $ and effort needed to make the (clutch/transmission) driveline strong enough to hold at the 350/400 hp range isn't worth the effort to me not to mention the lack of very few good transmission option's for parts upgrade to hold more power. The Auto should be fine at that level, plus be predictable on launches over and over and over. I am really looking at the premium + but I can't stand the roof! I am much more into a traditional carbon weave pattern then the cheap looking flat forged carbon. And it appears like the heads-up display is only on the Plus 😬 wonder If the interior extra gloss black pieces are in the Plus as well 🤔
@aaromon439 күн бұрын
biggest issue with the auto is that's all most dealers will stock. will be very hard to find a GRC with 3 pedals going forward. same thing happened to veloster N & elantra N (although those DCT's are extremely good).

To his point... My gf isnt a car person. But, when i was looking at the corolla gr, she got real excited and started talking about how she might get one. She was pretty disappointed when i told her it was stick only, and pretty quickly lost interest. I told her about the changes for 2025, and now shes back on board. Eccept now she's also looking at a chevy colorado. If toyota had an AT back when she first got excited, it would have been no question. But now they might lose the sale to chevy, since she is considering the functionality of a small truck. (I hope she gets the corolla, or at least gets the chevy used to save money)
