17:20 I'm pretty sure that's a Cheri berry, not a sprout, serving as the cherry top to the scoop of ice cream that is Popsiclaw! The games always depict it with an weirdly long stem, so it's easy to mistake as something else

Only halfway through, but this is seriously good as always! Your approach with feedback, highlighting the subtleties done well while carefully laying out areas of improvement, is a class act. Neat challenge idea too, very wholesome for the community. And Blizzarack’s redesign is a nice shot at object pokemon design, I think you really made the face work. Way to go!

It's always a blast to work on one of these! Love to see the final project all come together! fun fact, the Berry on popsiclaw's head is meant to be like how you put cherries on ice cream~! the idea evolved from that to the idea that the varying sizes have different berries~!

Supposedly Klara -was- suppose to have a Dustox (thus the bow) but then it was cut from the DLC roster. A shame really when we finally got someone repping Poison types as part of their roster that wasn't a ninja.

You asked for it, so here is My Hot Take: People who make these "Pokémon Designs are getting worse," style videos are just folks projecting their preferentially biased double standards for what they want pokémon to be and vent their disdain in the form of a pseudo-objective argument that aims to convince folks that their way of thinking is the correct one. Trying to synthesize a genuine "problem," out of what is essentially a personal gripe about a designs in this children's fictional fantasy franchise is incredibly tiresome and comes off as derogatory towards the original artists vision to Yuck the Yum of people who may appreciate said art. I get that folks have issues with certain designs with Anthro/ humanoid, inanimate object, occupation adjacent, and even fantastical elements. A lot of people who tend to agree with those sentiments are seen in these very youtube comments to shout into the echo chamber of the subject matter. However, those very same design elements have all been a thing since Generation 1. The concepts of Gen 1 are still here today. For the most part, those design elements are tweaked, expanded, changed, and built upon in the form of the newer mons to conform towards the current region and the market trends. Whether a person likes them or not is all preferential as well as circumstantial. Plus, if this paradigm shift in modern Pokémon design is truly a detrimental issue, there would not be an influx of appreciation for these new Pokémon from fans in the form of merchandise sales, favorable polls, or team statistics. Turns out that this "problem," that these videos tend to discuss may all be ... a problem with them? Look, there's nothing wrong with disliking or liking a certain Pokémon design, nor is it wrong to point out observations on how said designs have changed or may bother you as an individual. But the moment you start to insinuate that these observations are a direct problem that represents a sentiment that EVERY fan of the franchise has, that's straight up dishonest. It just shows that someone cannot accept, or come to understand the positive aspects of a newer design on the grounds that they do not conform to the nostalgic double standards of what they want a Pokémon to be.

I have been painting my nails w trans colors for like 3 weeks now and my coworkers do not understand at all they’ll say cool nails completely unironically then call me sir or he 15 minutes later like kill me

Yeah, I think it's likely all about the battle attributes in the game. Charizard can more easily withstand a draco meteor than a surf, so it's not classified as a dragon type. Tatsugiri may not look like a dragon, but it can much more easily handle a surf than a draco meteor, so it is classified as dragon type. Of course, how a scientist in-universe can control for all the factors such as move power level, attacking power and defensive power of each pokémon is another question. I guess in times contemporary to the games, a pokédex can probably scan for power levels like in Dragonball, but how the people who programmed it figured all that out is a bit of a can of worms.

I was thinking recently about how psychic kind of seems like a bit of a wastebasket type, but for concepts that just seem a bit too strange to go for normal, especially legendaries. Like, sure, a creature which attacks with a giant tongue or with its voice can just get lumped into normal, but a DNA being, giant singular cell, or living wind chime or punchbag, or incarnation of a nebula or the alphabet? That's a bit too weird even for the normal type, so they get to be psychic type instead, seemingly by default. Honestly, it's almost a bit odd the porygon line ended up normal instead of psychic type, considering it's theming is largely around technological advancement, which is achieved through the human mind. That's probably why it gets psybeam and quite a few other psychic moves by TM at the very least. It seems like a bit of an outlier, as a lot of the other unusual normal types are often type-changing species which just have a normal default state as a foil to all the other types they can be come (think your castforms, kecleons, arceuses, etc.) or at the very least, have a variety of various typed pokemon they're connected to and have to be normal to feel properly quintessential to all of them (regigigas comes to mind). The porygon line, though, doesn't exactly fit into either of those. I have to wonder if, had porygon's concept been implemented just a few gens later, if it would have been a psychic type instead. I guess one explanation might be that, as a technological being, porygon technically doesn't have a brain, and thus doesn't have a psyche, though that might make the likes of metagross questionable (though then again, it does have dex entries implying that even it has organic brains, despite its mechanical appearance). Though then again, the question of why this electronic creature isn't electric type is a whole other can of worms. I guess overall, the boundaries of each type are interesting to think about. It's pretty obvious at this point that they're pretty soft; being based on an aquatic creature is enough to make magikarp count as a water type, but not grapploct, having wings is enough to make ledian count as a flying type, but not volbeat, etc.
