I have a CISSP, PMP, AWS, no degree. Landing interviews but struggling to get an offer letter. Maybe sign of the times. IDK.

How long is a regular work day of purely working in cyber security? How many hours, and days a week do you work?

From the description: "You’ll earn a dual credential when you complete both the Google Cybersecurity Certificate and the CompTIA Security+ exam". My question is, does the order matter? I'm already far in Sec+ study and planning on passing the exam soon, will I be able to link both certs even if I do Google's cert after Sec+?

I find studying for certs boring af. Just do CTFs on CTFtime or even HTB for network pentesting stuff. All these certs do is just introduce you to basic concepts, just a broad coverage of different exploitation strategies, how to use this tool, how to use that tool, no depth at all. What are they trying to teach you to become a script kiddie? Anyone can run a Metasploit script, enumeration scripts, etc. Just my 2 cents since this list is offensive focused, if you are more interested in network/infra based attacks, do HTB machines. If you are more interested in vulnerability research and writing your own exploits for them, go on CTFtime. Pretty much the entire industry is split between those who can and those who cannot code, and you will have to write your own custom tools to progress further as a red teamer.

Greetings bro!! Do you think there is a problem with focusing on obtaining the CPTS as your first certification? (considering that the person has all the equivalent knowledge and fundamentals net+ and sec+, a+... without necessarily obtaining these certifications)

Hello, Mad Hat. Do I need penetration testing experience to become a SOC analyst? If so, what are some beginner-friendly labs on TryHackMe or Hack The Box? When I visited these sites, I didn't understand anything. By the way, I'm still a beginner. I only know CCNA, Python, and Security+ Thank you so much for your videos! They've inspired me to pursue a career as a SOC analyst, and I'm committed to making it happen. ❤
@thewhitenigga38508 күн бұрын
I'm feeling quite lost right now about what I should focus on learning. Should I start with the SOC Analyst roadmap on TryHackMe, or dive into learning Linux, Active Directory, Wireshark, or Splunk? It's overwhelming, and I'm not sure where to begin.

MADHAT thank you! I’m 28 years old and have been considering Cybersecurity for two years now. My story is very similar to yours. Played wow and was in and out of school and after joining the military and getting out I’ve been stuck in retail. It’s literally hell for me. Ive been stuck with hard working, low paying jobs for 10 years. I have my GI bill and want to go to WGU for cybersecurity. I have completed the Google cyber certification already, but to be honest I am afraid. Afraid there will be no jobs or that it won’t pay well and I might not like it. My job history is fast food 3 years, army 3 years, construction 3 years, retail 2 years. I’ve literally hated every one of my previous jobs and need to get out somehow!

I almost got my hands on one of those dev boxes. Believe it or not Morgan Webb mentioned the situation with the devbox on an episode of Xplay back in the day. Sure enough they were on eBay and Craigslist. The person I spoke with though was so sketchy about the deal that it never happened. Shortly after that the news about the whole situation came out. Arrest. Xbox. One thing to note is the original news said the group behind everything were MIT students and Blizzard was the company not EA. It makes sense if it really was EA but at the time the reporting claimed it was blizzard. Nice stream Madhat. Look forward to the next one.

Hi, Mad Hat. Really starting to binge your vids. I am a field service engineer in the semiconductor industry, helping out Intel. Really trying to break into the IT world, as I already do a lot of Linux, Python semtex, work software programs, networks, and analytics, for troubleshooting huge computer chip machines that make CPU's for AI and stuff. Was also electronic technician in the Navy on radar systems and comms. I feel that I would like to be on the defensive side of cyber security, instead of penetration side. Do you recommend to just start studying and doing labs for Security+, or start off with a solid foundation with the Google cert? Thanks, man!
