I paid $239 for my 'beater' Remington 581 3 or 4 years ago. Numrich Arms and eBay are great sources for parts. BTW: mine was also missing the mag. Be prepared to pay $25-50 for a replacement.

I know this video is 9yrs old but very helpful today. Best instructions I found on take down and reassembly. I love my Mini 14 but wanted to see how to give a deep clean and was a bit hesitant to try. You made it easy for me.

The trigger in my FV was scary light. It was so light, it was a single-stage two-stage. I had to make it heavier just to confidently feel *where* the trigger break was. Granted, I'm a two-stage guy.

For those who just want to know if a Model 94 is a pre64 or a post 64 rifle just by a quick glance at a gun show, a quick glance at the two stacked screws on the right side of the receiver will tell you. If they are off set; pre64. If they are stacked one directly above the other; post 64. Another way to tell is the lever action hinge floorplate. If it has a screw; pre64. If not; post 64.

always degrease the bolt and the bolt hole before putting loctite on any thing or it will not hold ...there is plenty of room in the stock to drill snd store all kinds of goodies

I have tried so hard to like the AR15. I just very much do not like it. The bolt control in the rear and the direct impingement system turn me off and aesthetically I really don’t like it. The other 3 I really love each of them for their own reasons.

Beside a pound or 2 in weight heavier the AK47 and SKS compared to the lighter AR15 and Mini 14. Consider carrying a large amount of ammo. An AK-47 round is significantly heavier than an AR-15 round; a standard AK-47 round (7.62x39mm) weighs around 16.3 grams (0.6 ounces), while a standard AR-15 round (5.56x45mm NATO) weighs around 3.9 grams (0.14 ounces) making the AK round roughly four times heavier. My point is if you were on the move on foot...beyond just these 2 rounds being 7.62 x 39 and 5.56 x 45 Here's the data as a sorted chart: These numbers are aprox. Gun Type Rounds per pound Weight per 100 rounds (lbs) Rifle .22 LR 133.33 0.75 Pistol 0.38 47.06 2.13 Pistol 9mm Luger 38.1 2.63 Rifle .223/5.56 37.21 2.69 Pistol .38 Special 34.78 2.88 Pistol .357Mag. 30.77 3.25 Pistol .357Mag. 28.07 3.56 Pistol 40S&W 28.07 3.56 Rifle 7.62X39 27.59 3.63 Rifle 0.243 22.22 4.5 Pistol .44magnum 22 4.57 Pistol .45ACP 21.33 4.69 Rifle 30-30 20.28 4.92 Pistol .44magnum 19.7 5.07 Rifle 0.308 19.05 5.25 Rifle 0.308 18.67 5.35 Rifle 7mm 14.68 6.81 Shotgun 12GA 2 3/4" 10.53 9.5 Shotgun 12GA 00 9.76 10.25 Shotgun 12GA #7 (1/2 Rounds per pound:) 10.53 9.75 Shotgun 12GA #4 9.3 10.75 Shotgun 12GA 3" 8.89 11.25

The firing pin block does NOT stop the firing pin when you’re dry-firing, that’s only against accidental drops in case the sear disengages. Some guns have a limited-travel firing pin (what I think you were trying to say) which even when fired can’t touch the face of the chamber, while most others can and will still damage it, even on modern 22’s. Ruger claims their single action 22 revolvers are safe to dry fire, but I’ve seen proof of it still peening the chamber. (I’ve also bent and had a friend bend a firing pin by dry firing a 22 without a snap cap, as well.)

The Marlin 60 was my 3rd gun. I own the 18 shot one. I went into a pawnshop looking for a .308. They didn’t have any. As I was walking out I seen the Marlin 60 listed for $160. I went over to the guy I spoke to about the .308 and said hey man I really really don’t want that .22 but I’d buy it if you drop the price. He laughed and said it sounds like you want it. I said no I really want a 308. Gosh it was the first time in my adult life I actually haggled on the price bcuz I really didn’t want it. Ended up buying it for $100 and it is my favorite gun til this day

I got one I'm trying to restore. It was pretty roached but I got the action working well and working on the filler tube. Rusted solid. It does move a tiny bit so I've been patient with it. A little wd40 and let it set. Tap tap twist twist. It was found in an old bottle dump. Looked like it'd been there a couple winters. It did have a panel over it and wasn't directly on the ground. There was another 22 bolt action with it. Best bottle dump find I've ever had, lol.

Professional gunsmith here. Please don't grease your shotguns, folks. I see lots of break-action shotguns in my shop that are stuck closed due to accumulated dirt/sand/unburned powder that gets trapped by grease. It will also gum up your action in cold weather and potentially cause light primer strikes. I use either Ballistol or Rem Oil for both cleaning and lubrication.

i´d say it heavily depends on the situation. If you´re just shooting targets or whatever, then do what feels right for you. But for actual soldiers or special forces (especially the ones that clear buildings frequently) the chicken wing arm could end fatal. You´re possibly exposing your arm before you can see your enemy and you take might knock down things around you. That being said, most shooters are neither soldiers or special operators, so do whatever you want. People complain about this way too much, even though it really doesn´t matter at the range
