Ditto. I built mine in a very similar way. The cut and fit of the laser parts is very precise. Pay very close attention to the orientation of the parts during assembly.

An excellent and very watchable video showcasing what are obviously your very considerable skills. I have purchased the Pavel Nikitin example Viking ship also in 1/25 as a first build! What was I thinking? I’m hoping some of what you do here will help me along the way.

Excellent work,. As I come form a boatbuilding family I must point out that no one would leave the trailing edge of the rudder ao thick like that shown at 7:22. It should have been tapered/ feathered, as Bluenose would have never won all those races. Apart from that, all I can say is hearty congratulations. Since I was young close to 85 years ago I always felt that a good displacement hull should have the lines from bow to transom follow the shape of "a sinewave" or a truncated sinewave at the transom for least resistance and Bluenose appears to have those lines,. We use to build and race "MARBLEHEAD" radio controlled models and that was our " secret design lines".

David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Wednesday, 28 August, 2024) I would delight in building a diorama depicting a great sea battle with two large, plastic model kits, e.g., Revell’s 1:96th-scale model of the USS Constitution U.S. Navy 54-gun Frigate. I to my long-running exasperation cannot find a kit to make a replica that could serve as a creditable adversary. I have considered converting a second Constitution model, this one built as a 44-gun frigate of unknown origin or registry, painting it in tans and light browns, with bits of darker wood and cream coloured pines as accents, trim, and ornate, coiling filigree, and broad, scarlet and off-white bands running along the gunnery decks. I also would set this vessel slightly lower in the water, and if possible without extensive modification, make it smaller and shorter. Or perhaps a band of Barbary Pirates aboard a trio of swift, sturdy xebecs, one relatively large, and amply crewed. Inexplicably, the big United States’ frigate doggedly manages to remain close upon their flank, eventually to overtake them; they strike with cannon loaded with grapeshot, swiftly slaying many, and severing their lines (rigging) to deny them the winds out of the northwest. In their humiliation born of utter defeat, the survivors flee in their last remaining vessel (their smallest) rowing with all dispatch to the eastern Mediterranean. Finding a winding, little-known river winding sinuously though the Sinai region-the Constitution’s draught is too deep to follow-they pass to the south, eventually to reach the Horn of Africa, eventually to start anew their dodgy enterprise . . . .

Nice touch having the Winslow Homer paintings at the end. I just built this. I am on a "working boat" path these days, mostly midwest/model shipways boats (crab skiff on deck). If you continue with these I would appreciate your noting what grade sand paper you use at various points...I struggle with which is the appropriate grade, esp for final painting.

YO there's a maritime festival tomorrow at richmond, are you going

the gokstadt ship, while being seaworthy and relatively big, was wider and slower than the ships vikings (raiders) would have used... the Gokstadt ship is more of an "intermediary" between warship and merchant vessel, and the exquisite decorations would suggest she was actually a royal yacht! the Knarr was a merchant vessel, the Snek was lightly built and perfect for raids... could even be carried over land despite it's length of 15-20m! the Drakkars were large warships, not many of those were ever built, the largest drakkar was Omen lange, the long snake, she was more than 50m long depending on who you ask and had up to 80 oarsmen! the karve was yet another type, a scaled down drakkar, the well known Oseberg ship is a great example!
