Love this so much! I would suggest Conservatism is more a form of Naya, the other side of the conversation in the Leonin split during the Shards of Alara block. The sense of preservation of tradition and heritage is strong, but it's also built on a sense of belief in a faith or community that wants to uphold the values (morals) it decides to uphold/preserve, which I feel would bring in some White. That community then grants certain freedoms defined by the community, forming a kind of Red that is tempered into considering history and community over full impulsivity. Though, sometimes the community pushes some kinds of impulsivity, so it depends on what morals the community decides to hold as valuable Thus, I would propose Conservatism is a kind of Naya built predominantly on Green with some White and a splash of Red. Beyond that, this is a great video! I'm working on some worldbuilding for a story of mine, and I especially enjoyed the 4-color discussion. My plan is for certain groups in the story to eventually (over centuries of revisiting this world) reach a peak form showing what they stand against, making them essentially 4-color "tribes." I'm definitely appreciative of a starting point like this video for my thoughts.
@ItsNotGoodShow7 ай бұрын
Im really glad you liked the video. What you're working on sounds interesting to me. I can see where you are coming from with naya, especially the story of the naya in shards of alara, but i will stand by my observation on how the colors themselves apply. I would say red overall is not very conservative in nature, green and white definitely apply very strongly to conservatism and your description here absolutely supports that. Good thinking!

@ItsNotGoodShow8 ай бұрын
Shoot i dont really know anything about homestuck. What do you think the color philosophy of homestuck is?
@xenathcytrin2028 ай бұрын
@ItsNotGoodShow I'm not sure, tho to give a quick overview, homestuck is essentially a multiuniversal creation myth in which a group of teens have a coming of age story that involves the world ending, innumerable time loops, dying several times, ascending to godhood, and eventually creating a frog that is actually a new universe, all nested in video game mechanics and constant in jokes. There are large themes about identity and finding your place in the world. Also the multiverse it takes place in, paradox space, has the interesting property in which everything that exists, in some way in some fashion, is destined to eventually play a key part in bringing about its own existance.

Mario Tennis Aces is like the most alternative of alternative fighting games. You have actual Meter that can be used for offensive or defensive abilities, and a lot of the mental game is maintaining a meter advantage over your opponent. If you get a good read on them, you can fully charge a shot which pushes them back and makes it easier to chain charge shots on them for combos that build meter. And your opponent can combo break you by responding with the type of shot that counteracts yours, in a sort of rock-paper-scissors interaction. Having enough of a meter lead means you can leave your opponent with poor defenses against your metered shots which, if not intercepted perfectly, damages their racquet through a literal health bar, giving you a secondary way to win a match other than through points.

Ive been thinking about revisiting this concept 🤔 i should definitely play this game, if i do and i add it to the roster i will give you credit for suggesting it

Alcohol burns up and evaporates pretty fast, i dont think a water bender would be able to bend lit alcohol very long. Itd be closer to the way napalm or war flame throwers work where they manipulate the liquid that gets distributed with fire, but never the fire itself

Challenge accepted. A lot of people might say that Guts is Rakdos. I can't see this. He would do anything for his family no matter the cost to himself. I can't see a Rakdos character being content with the situation at elfhelm. Strait red. Am I wrong? Challenge: finger
@ItsNotGoodShow Жыл бұрын
Hmm. Okay, im not sure what you mean by finger. Can you elaborate? Do you mean like the appendage? I do mostly agree with your assessment of Guts. Though i think you could argue that he goes through a character arc that remains red, but has a different secondary color depending on the part. When we see him in the beginning he is 100% black, when we see him younger, he is 100% red. When his principles are formed we see him red/white, willing to protect his family, who need him.

@@ItsNotGoodShow ya, I mean the appendage

Fingers have no alignment philosophically as all entities of any alignment can have them. I would say the closest is green, as the adaptation to have fingers is a natural process that came from evolution, and natural evolution is a mono green concept. Of course and fingers that are mechanical or made by sentient beings are blue. So specifics matter.

The color identity of cheezits???? Hmmmm. Tasty snack. But not too adventurous. I wouldnt call it a red food, as red foods would definitely something with a lot more going on. Flavor and passion and spices and creativity. But cheezits are simple and classic. Non offensive snack. Never bad, but never mind blowing. This leads me to want to characterize them as a green or white snack. Reliable like white. Why change a good thing that works as is? That's a very green sentiment. Something like that. White green.

I know I m like 2 years late to the party but the concept of the color pie as a philosophical taxon (in response to your challenge thing)
@ItsNotGoodShow Жыл бұрын
My instinct is to say blue, for the desire to categorize Philosophies in defined sectors. But, because it is using far more flexible and subjective definitions to paint broad strokes over the capacities of the colors (sometimes resulting in contradiction) i am led to say blue-red. Only red would allow taxonomic groups to contradict themselves and still find consistency within those contradictions enough to have easily recognized philosophy. Think "vibes-based" categorization. And post hoc justification for those groupings. When they are explained to you, They make sense, but if you dig into them more, you might find stuff that is harder to justify.

In the story of Wan, Raava says that having the ability to bend more than 1 element is too dangerous for a human. In order for the avatar to bend all 4, they need Raava to maintain the other elements, they just tap in to that power through the spirit.

i know this vids a year old but i just found it and loved it. you've earned a subscription my guy :3 I really liked the books willingness to not explain some things fully. Like you said, we hear about the teacher in Wales and her missing fiance Sullivan who was also a wizard in Ingary. we don't really get a ton of elaboration on that until the end when we learn the teachers true identity, but it opens up a lot of questions that you can logic answers out of if you look at it. Like it's never stated, but it's clear in retrospect that the Witch of the Waste had been using the teacher to hunt for hot guys on earth she could add to her Frankenstud. i really liked the wit present in the novel, and the heart and beauty of the film.
