The thing i don't understand is if they can offer 4.9% in the cash ISA using only banks why do they need to use QMMF in the investment isa for the univested cash? Why don't they generate the 4.9% in the same way?

I’m not happy but I’ll be sticking with it. Having a SIPP in the £10k-£20k region with regular monthly payments that mean in a year or so time I’ll be back in the 0.15% rate means that I’d be moving to save a few quid only to look at coming back later. Happy with their fund selection and service. Will probably stick around. If I had lower amounts and lower regular monthlies I’d be out though, don’t blame anyone.

My SIPP is with vanguard at the moment, but I have a LISA with HL. I did some sums yesterday and the Vanguard SIPP is still cheaper than HL, but I will look into alternatives and leave if I can find better value.

I assume these fees are also applied to Junior ISA’s? If a child has say £1500 in their JISA, the annual fee was £2.25, from February it will be £48. That’s an over 2000% increase. My worry is how long before others follow suit. For now, I’m moving my kids JISA’s to HL. Update… I’ve just checked a few sources, and the email I received from Vanguard and it looks like JISA’s are unaffected by the fee increase
@FinancialInterestcom4 сағат бұрын
Your update is correct, this does not apply to Junior ISAs

Thank you for this informative video! I’ll be affected by the Vanguard fee increases, so I’m considering switching to InvestEngine since I’m primarily focused on index funds. Previously, I was investing in global funds, but I’m unsure which ETF or index to choose on InvestEngine. Do you have any recommendations?

Do you recommend an ISA switch over just selling and putting straight into another platform, or is there no real difference other than time?

Poor interest rate for deposits and now more fee's. This platform is getting out of control ever since John Bogle died.

A step-by-step guide to help transfer from Vanguard Life Strategy to Trading 212 would be super helpful. It gets complicated from the No. of Shares and Average Purchase price screens. I’m sure this is a really common scenario and would therefore make a popular video!

Ill for sure be leaving, i have about £10000 invested started last year but this seems like a no brainer to move to somewhere else. Any good recs? T212 is good? at least from what i gathered on Damians videos for a UK user. Edit: Is it simple to transfer from one platform to another as well? Given its just an Isa i assume there are no fees just to transfer from one to another, but i am a newbie invester here, i mostly have just been doing £100 a month after intially openin my account with vanguard lst year.

It depends on the type of account you're looking for, we've linked some guides in the description that compare fees across brokers of various account types
@rohitthakker7491Күн бұрын
Pros: Ease of opening, ease of use -depositing funds and trading with Zero platform and transaction charges and low FX fee compared to competitors. Cons: T212 seems to have a problem calculating and displaying the true average cost price 1) Average price shown after purchase does not include the 0.5% Stamp duty for UK stocks, assume it must be the same for other stocks where stamp duty is payable. This has been raised previously with T212 and only received a polite thank you 2) Similarly, does not include the fx fee for US stocks in the average cost price. 3) Poor experience transferring Stocks and share ISA - transferred cash is held and not applied to the account once received
@FinancialInterestcomКүн бұрын
Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I'd never considered the brokers including their fees within the investment profit and loss. For example, if I invested £100 with a broker and they had a £5 monthly account fee, I wouldn't expect them to track that investment as £105 per month and instantly be down £5. Just thought this was worth sharing although I definitely see your point!

The drastic increase in platform fees, which can be for someone having £100 invested from 0.15% a year to a whopping £4 a month . I am invested with Vanguard for a couple of years now and had ironically transferred all my previous Stock and Share ISAs over to them fairly soon after I opened a Stocks and Shares ISA and a SIPP account with them. On having received the unceremoniously written email about the effectively up to about 30 times increase in their platform fees (if you have only £100 invested with them) I immediately started googling for alternative cheaper options. I had already felt that the about 86 funds offered by them is an extremely dull selection compared to what they offer on the general market and the US Vanguard website. Also, as mentioned in the video, you only pay 0.03% expanse ration for their S&£P500 fund for example if this is invested in their US fund (charging 0.07% TER for their UK equivalent). I also sorely remember that about 1-2 years ago, Vanguard cut the interest rate they were offering for uninvested capital from unlimited to a maximum of I belive (but don't quote me here) under 2% maximum, so they are trying at all ends to profiteer and deviate in their non-US markets from the founder's financial principles (Bogle is a very good read). After having checked out the advice on financialinterest.com and few other websites (the FI info was far better, more differentiated than that of any competitior as they don't seem to 'favour' those companies that sponsor them most...) I have start an account with Trading 212 today and have signed to have my total Stock and Share ISAs over tham Vanguard. Over the years I had already bookmarked some ETF comparison websites so know what the best performing funds for me will be and am looking forward to massive double fee savings (no platform fees and will only buy the US funds now which offer less than 50% expense ration than Vanguard UK). Thank you Vanguard for finally having gotten me out of my comfort zone!!! Alas, I am still looking for a cheaper option to transfer my SIPP (Self Invested Peronsal Pension) out of Vanguard, toos. Any recommendations, please let me know 🙂

Vanguard clients were staying for its reputability and expecting lower fees at least starting with their own products. I am out. Let me know if anyone knows any limitation of re opening an account after closing it with them.

Definitely not a nice move and they might suffer from many small investors leaving the platform.

Like a lot of others it seems, I'll also be leaving the platform. As a small investor who only started out a couple of years ago, I'm really disappointed to see this change, which is seemingly aiming to at sort the wheat from the chaff (it's me, I'm the chaff) and putting all their energy into their big time investors. Kind of bummed out about this - was starting to feel confident in my investments and now it's back to the drawing board...
@timcoupland5824Күн бұрын
Had my pension with St James place for 10 years. Vanguard can treble their fees and halve their funds performance and I'd still be better off. Fees are proportionate and I'd pay a little extra for trust and I certainly wouldn't trust some providers with my pension. My isa and gia are with T212 and have vanguard funds in them as it's cheaper. Be careful people don't go watching this and moving pensions to another provider that charges less and performs way less. It's a balancing act fees vs performance
@FinancialInterestcomКүн бұрын
100% costs aren’t everything. It’s just that Vanguard has many very well established long-term competitors (e.g. the likes of HL, Fidelity, AJ Bell etc) that offer similar perceived trustworthiness at a much lower price
@jademurray7666Күн бұрын
After crunching some numbers, I think whether someone sticks with Vanguard really depends on how much they like it, the funds they're into, and the overall platform, especially if their portfolio is under £32,000. If it's under £15,000, I’d personally switch, but if it's over £15,000, I’d probably stay since the fee difference isn't huge. If you want the lowest fees, switching might be the way to go, though it all comes down to how much you like Vanguard.

Very well presented, thorough and informative presentation. I have just one comment about the desktop/Mobile section. First I have generally found Invest Engine to be excellent but for one security issue. They do offer both desktop and mobile versions but you presently have to load their app on both your smartphone and your pc in order to enable 2fa which somewhat defeats the object of the additional security. With Vanguard, for example, you need a mobile but the app does not need to be loaded on the phone. I use a vlan with my mobile but any unnecessary software means taking an unnecessary risk when connecting to external wifi. They could use sms or develop their pc app to generate internal code perhaps. As a regular isa saver I don't need to access the site very often and never by phone. There must be other users that feel the same way? If so please make Invest Engine aware of this.

So in other words if you haven’t quite got 32,000 in your portfolio just top it up to that or just wait until it reaches that then your all good .

Yes if you have 32k you’d be no worse off than before, though their costs are still on the higher side
