Great video! Seán is one of life’s great gentlemen. The museum always worth a visit, along with Seán’s fantastic collection of Irish Rail artefacts, his knowledge of the Irish Rail history is worth listening to also. I think it’s the only pub in the world with an engine in it! On Claremorris station, it has a rich railway history. It was the crossroads for the MGWR line from Dublin-Westport and the Limerick-Sligo route, along with a branch line to Ballinrobe. It had a sophisticated layout, equally sophisticated signalling to handle its regular traffic along with the pilgrimage traffic for the nearby Knock Shrine which attracted thousands of visitors every year. The most specials on one particular pilgrimage day was 22! Claremorris had 4 platforms, a 60ft turntable, large water tower and goods yard adjacent to the local mart. It was probably the largest employer in the town at one stage. Claremorris actually had two railway stations at one stage, with the WL&WR station site still in existence, but closed over a century ago!

I have a Ph.D. in the error analysis of Welsh. There are only 3 correct ways of saying 'All the Stations' in Welsh: 1. Y gorsafoedd i gyd 2. Yr holl orsafoedd 3. Y gorsafoedd oll.

You missed a few stops - or at least left them out of the video. City Hospital, Botanic, Titanic (used to be Bridge End), Holywood, Jordanstown and some more on the Larne line.

As far as I can work out EVERY train operator in the UK has worked out a way to not give you the discounts that make any real difference, it's basically a very clever con trick. Take my situation, single, non military, fully able bodied, outside the network rail zone south east area, travel alone, over 25 under 65, it's just not an option. 7 options NONE of them viable. It's up there with a ponsi scheme.

Since it was mentioned down thread, it would be interesting to see this station now, four years plus after COVID, and see if anyone’s still there from the time of this video-and if anything changed during and after COVID….and by the way, we haven’t seen much of Vicki over the last couple of years; hope you’re still together and she’s doing okay health wise!
