A very beautiful recording and at a low pitch similar to St Maximin. I'm curious about the modifications to the meantone at St Maximin. Where is it possible to read about the temperament? And what was the concept behind the meantone modification?

There are no words. This music is at a higher level of meaning than verbal speech, especially as expressed here by Ketil. MAGNIFICENT - BRAVISSIMO!

Ketil is the only master who now equals GL in his transcendent expressive connection with the harpsichord.

Less messy if you turn 4 times one way and then release and turn tuning hammer 4 turns back. It is more conventional to wind clockwise, not that it matters. Clamping the free string under your shoe works well as long as you turn the tuning hammer backwards after 3 or 4 coils . It stops it wrapping around your hand.

Some of the best playing of this composer I have heard in a long time; it’s the poise, rubato, beauty of sound (very good instrument, by the way) that makes this such a treat. Great recording of the Goldberg Variations by the way.

No, not that I am aware of - The 'no. thirteen' is a ballade-of-sorts with rich & florid Italian ornamentation - lyrical, "verspielt"and possibly bordering on the sentimental - but not 'joking'. Why do you ask, may I ask...?

Very inspiring and beautiful! I personally really like the quality of the video/audio, it sounds like the instrument is in the room with me - as opposed to the inorganic and confusing sound one gets from stuffing microphones right inside the instrument, which is seen in most "broadcast quality" videos.

Thank you very much for these inspiring words! Well - in trying to 'not make a TV program, but rather concentrate on playing precious music decently and uncluttered, instead', I set up the Leica M240 with classic, prime lenses ...no zooming.. no ultra wide-angle ... no nonsense ... and doing the audio separately through the Zoom device-and-its-kit-microphone, tweaking in a 'miniscule' reverb, as to retain the room more-or-less-as-is! I am very happy indeed that you appreciate such qualities - as this underlines the aim of what I try to accomplish, myself. This music is so beautiful and immortal - we are only 'small vehicles' in the grand scale of things. The least we can do is not to blur it by heaping on cheap distractions...! :-)))

which maker is the harpsichord and year?
@cembalaro
@cembalaro Жыл бұрын
I am the "which" - the year was 1971 - it was my first instrument "from scratch" (- having finished a French Double Hubbard kit the previous year). It is a "late-flemish", "Dulckenish" instrument, if you will - was exceedingly inspired by Martin Skowroneck's working ethos of "kapieren statt kopieren", but obviously, along totally correct and sound historical underpinnings. I hope you like it.... 🙂

A very wonderful, fantastic interpretation. Mr Haugsand stretches the bows wide and completely relaxed, builds up unbelievable tensions by means of the slightest delays. Articulation as well as phrasing is simply unbelievably beautiful, coherent. I have never heard this work by Frohberger so intimate, atmospheric, calm and yet with many surprises. An absolute masterpiece, perfect, a pity that THIS playing is not available on CD, stick or similar and that we cannot hear the full sequence of frequences. Many, many thanks and greetings to Norway. 😍😘

Thank you ever so much for these words of compliment!! Such heart-warming statements keep artists' courage going - as we know that people are receptively listening to what we try to express!! But it also takes a highly sensitive mind to receive it like this!! PS - my playing is indeed (...still) available on CD. Just look up i.e, the SIMAX label: lots of Bach, Rameau, Forqueray, &c - though no CD recordings of Froberger.

Wonderful, rich interpretation. Great sense of ornamentation so natural. A pleasure and very insightful to watch th skilled hands move over the keyboard with no frantic motion, controlled, smooth and quick marksmanship when need be. A real lesson in hand work as well as aesthetic interpretation.
