Hey I lived 30 minutes North of Belleville for nearly a decade!!! The thing about these small cities/towns like Belleville or I assume Springfield is you can live half an hour outside of town and be in some really nice quiet places.

Golden glove boxers can be overrated after. I met a dude who said he was second regionally in a gold gloves event , a total pussy, and all of us are like no shit really? Well there was only two fucking guys in the whole thing lol. I’m sure you can get some killers tho too lol

The only time he looked completely full blown out of shape was that lockeroom pic in Vegas. He’s old af there tho. Pretty sure he was on his last legs then. He didn’t always look like that lol

Hockey is a cash cow for coaches and trainers. Everyone selling a dream and guess what, keep paying and your kid still won't make the show. Additional ice times won't change a thing.

If you ever got to play hockey competitively growing up be thankful. This sport is only for the rich and if you weren’t rich growing up your parents struggled financially just so you could play. It’s only getting worse too. You can’t even have programs either to help lower income families because with ice time and top of the line equipment it is still way too expensive. It’s crazy to think how many freak athletes could have made it to the nhl if it wasn’t $1000 for a good pair of skates.

Let me put it this way. I drove past schools and I don't see kids playing street hockey anymore. It's either basketball or soccer. So, I don't see a positive future for the sport, especially when I see the NHL is talking about expanding again. The poor and middle class are more numerous than the rich. So, creating more teams means the league could become saturated with less skilled players. Just look at last year's game between San Jose and Vancouver. When was the last time an opposing team suffered such a blow out? And then Bauer and CCM are up for sale. I hope I'm wrong but it looks like the sport may have hit a plateau.

yeah its for the rich thats another reason why it isnt as popular as football and basketball and baseball..... as i kid i used a old golf club for a hockey stick for the longest time

You said 45 percent went to prep school that means 55 did not if you have talent it will show
@Xavier-0164 ай бұрын
It's for the rich, but depending on how you spend your money as a middle class citizen it's affordable. Probably not the case now due to inflation, but def the case 4 years ago. But aside from that equipment is super expensive, and ice is not cheap. Funny how all hockey parents always get a heart attack when their kid considers playing goalie, $$$

Basic answer yes, even house league costs a lot , can't imagine what rep leagues cost. It's a rich person sport to be able to make it to the NHL. Regular people can afford to play hockey in beer league's, but if you want your kid to play in the NHL then yes you have to be rich to make it .

yes, but its a trend that is affecting all sporting disciplines. Even the NBA is seeing a big decline in recruits that have come from lower class areas. This could be however due to younger generations of kids in poorer areas finding it near impossible to not get hooked on drugs or make bad life choices due to the extreme levels of moral and urban decay we now face in the western world.
