I bought one to replace the Short lived Powershot SD110 that I had. The SD1000 has that similar look to the SD110 with minor differences. I know the SD110 had a bad CCD sensor, but it's the model of canon my dad has. I had so many memories with the SD110, so I wanted to buy my own at least until it died.

I completely understand the point. Most of us do that journey. I sold my 6.000€ full frame gear and went to minimalist. It’s not about gear, it’s about challenging ourselves. At some point in life we understand that materialistic things matter and money matters (of course) but those should be the tools to lead us to happiness and not happiness by itself. But some of us just understand the joy of driving a Fiat 127 after driving a Ferrari… modern world is cruel because humanity is drifting on modern standards like if everything is about gear: pixels, resolution, frames per second, brands… I found it amazing to slow the pace, return to aps-c, travel lighter… take time capturing a photo, enjoying the manual settings. Even if it is not the best photo, I enjoy challenging myself … I’m not taking photos for others, I’m taking photos for me. The final image is just a part of what the moment represented for me. And that’s what you call (I guess) to be out of the box… like everything else in life, I can’t love others if I do not love first myself… and that’s what paixonites me on photography, that’s the way I connect to myself. Doing at a fast pace and with top gear is turning the moment vulgar and frugal. I’m even getting to the point of turning to manual old lenses… I don’t know if I will end on film. Something I’m sure, it will come the time that even in professional photography, clients will prefer final work with traces of imperfections rather that tack sharp images that all look the same no matter the photographer or gear. Humans are like that, that’s why society is getting bigger. We are getting feed up of fast perfection consumption society. All is about money, perfection and gear. But that’s me just thinking loud, sorry for the long reflection. My rule today “just challenge yourself trough imperfections”

The only downside of this amazing X system is when the camera or lens fail and you have nothing but a paper weight. Happened to me twice with the 100s and 100f, that is why I ended up getting the X-E with a 27mm lens.

The M4 is a fantastic camera. I would take it over an M6 any day. But if you think the film advance lever feels/sounds great on that, you should try an original M3, or even better, a dual stroke M3---nothing compares with it. A little weird getting used to at first but after a roll you don't even notice you're double cocking it. I had a dual stroke M3 but the rangefinder patch was fading so I returned it and now use a 1959 single stroke M3.

There are more versatile and far cheaper cameras than the X100V and with interchangeable lenses. Yet very few of them can literally fit in a pocket in addition to sharing the same internal engine as the flagship cameras of the Fujifilm X-Range. Why then do professionals that make their living out of photography enthuse about this deceptively simple camera? It might just be that the X100V inspires people to value the art of photography above the technology of photography.

Sadly due to the flange-focal-distance, which is the distance between the lens mount and the frame, you can’t mount Leica M on any DSLR body, as they would not be able to focus except for super up close macro photography, due to the M mount requiring only 27ish mm where as canon and most dslrs require 40ish mm of clearance
