I did this near the start of 2024. I was having trouble breathing in the first few km. Then I seemed to get used to it. Stonefly was a real hard ask. I spent a half hour at the hut recuperating. Stirling Road was good fun - but a bit scary with all the rocks. And I had a lot trouble getting up the hills from Telephone Box Junction to ENJOY. I had another half hour rest there too. And even going down the downhill section I stopped for a couple of rests - it takes a lot out of you too. I took way longer than you guys getting to my car.
@JEMMTB12 ай бұрын
Good effort Steve, yeah it is a hard slog, and that rocky section is dicy, overall its a big effort to achieve, but rewarding views and achievement.

Yeah, David, I think it's called the skills area, I did ride up and went down a green run, then a blue run, I found the jumps on the blue run a bit big for me, but hoping to session some of them one day

Gorilla tape fixed my Syncros Alex Rims X21 on my 2016 Scott Scale, they decided to put stock a 20mm tape strip to just cover the holes, over time the strip hardens and starts puncturing tubes (yes I don't run tubeless) I barely ride MTB now, bought the 48mm wide Gorilla tape and cut it to roughly 26mm wide, works better far better than any other rim tape. For road, I've good experience using Continental Easy Tape, but for my MTB rims even 24" was not wide enough to go from wall to wall.

Thanks Buddy, I have new 2023 which has not one kilometre on it yet, first time out will be in couple weeks, I was wondering about how far I could get, so great video, any idea on average speeds for trip?
@JEMMTB19 ай бұрын
@tomyoung3087 Enjoy your new bike 🏍 🙂 I'm not sure of my average speed, but 70% was highway/freeway sitting between 105 / 120. Unfortunately, the app I was using stopped working so I could see the finer details. My bikes done 57,000ks, It would be interesting to see if a new bike would be different or if you ran 95 instead of 91 fuel like I did. I do feel my bike rides best with 95 as recommended.
@tomyoung30879 ай бұрын
@@JEMMTB1 thanks for info buddy, that gives me a pretty good idea what to expect. I always use the highest octane I can, I am about 70% country back roads at moderate speeds, and 30% highway speeds of between 115 and 130 kms.

Great vid as always, looks like a fun ride! Personally I use Trailforks over Strava - like seeing the actual trails and their elevation chart etc. shame this trail doesn’t seem to be on TF, that may be intentional to keep its use to limited rider numbers.

Hey Wayne, yes! I still have it, and I still love this bike. I've upgraded the cluster to a suntour one as the original is pretty hefty. made the wheels tubeless and fitted new grips. Besides that, I haven't changed much, and it's been reliable :)
