Handbrake has the ablity to convert H.265 to H.264 video. But it has some limits: - Handbrake always outputs poor video quality. - It takes quite a long time to load source video and convert video. - It sometimes crashes in the middle before finishing the conversion process. - Besides, Handbrake is not updated often and lacks technical support. - The interface and settings of Handbrake are complex and it is not suitable for new beginners. In this case, you can try a more advanced H.265 encoder like DumboFab video converter to finish the job.

Last year I bought a 5DS R, hated it, hardly used it then learnt how to master it. Don't care re video nor mega high iso, let me just say this, I love my 5DS R that much, I bought a 5DS as my main second camera. To me, the best camera ever.

I like the camera but I prefer less light on the subject or at least natural light as the eyes on the models is showing the light reflection ? this loses a lot of the eye colour.? Although I do like my Nikon d90 which is still a high selling camera and takes very good photos I am looking forward to trying a second hand canon eos 5ds which is coming my way!

Great video and I want to buy a camera for my needs. I am an Appraiser and photograph historical documents, old movie posters, copy photos (negatives) and some I want to reproduce. Is this the camera for me? Can you tether it since it doesn’t appear to have a movable LCD screen which may be needed to copy 5x7 negs? I really appreciate your opinion. Geno Munari

I couldnt get it to convert H264/H265 files. What I did get was a free download called SHOTCUT. When you load an H264/H265 file it invites you to convert to .mp4 - Oh, hell yeah! And it does quick & easy. Problem Solved! !

On the "Converter Software", which GUI "Quality Level" is best to use (goes from 0 to 51)

I just try to covert a HD video of about 3 minutes (mp4 718 Mb) set in mp4-H265 (162Mb) in my video program an it say it seems to take more than 3 hours . seems not right, as i send it in skype and download it back , i get a H.265 file in just minutes

It was never a misguided project, it was just a scam simple.

I have a drone and it was set to H265 and my latest subscription editing program would not accept the MP4 file I now have set drone to H264 and all’s good. I have converted a video using this program and it works well. Cheers mate 🍷👍😷

Hi once downloaded how to i execute ,it has been unzipped and i have the coverter on my system cannot drag the file in. cheers it would be great to get this working,it is a h265 video from my mavic air.

Now 2021 and still not supported on any converters. H265 has too many patents that no one want to use it.

If you get troubles to convert HEVC to H264 you can use Handbrake on Mac osx :)

I am just getting into doing editing and stuff for fun, it's interesting finding this video talking about H.265 being the future. And 5 years later I am trying to find the difference in them and it looks like H.264 is just the older version now.

This program turns HEVC footage of 442 MB to 2.16 GB after converting it to H.264. This is Crazy. Works well but not worth it!

It's late 2020 and I'm new to the 5Ds and appreciate your review and real world images. I've wanted to upgrade my 6D for a couple of years and when B&H was selling the 5Ds for $1299 I had to have one and I am so impressed with it and my 35 f/2 IS, 17-40 f/4L and 24-105 f/4L IS lenses.
