Your video is extremely helpful, thank you! Is there a particular brightness level for ambient lighting as this will have a relative effect on exposure adjustments?

Is it just me or does the rendering of the face look slightly different between the c300 and c70. like blockier on the c70
@ruebencruz-tokar32795 ай бұрын
You can’t use different lenses when comparing sharpness or color. Lens sharpness is so different across the frame and every model lens has a different color temperature even within the same brand.

This is great! Thank you! I just picked up an XF605 and am hoping to get it to match to my FX6 in camera for a project where post color isn't going to happen. I can set the FX6 to ITU709, so I figured I'd set the 605 to a 709 profile and move on. Can you tell me what the difference is in the Canon camera between BT.709 Normal and BT.709 Standard?

Regarding All-I vs Long GOP, testing a shot where the tripod is locked and the subject/background is nearly identical, is not helpful to see the benefits of All-I. Remember, since little in the image is changed except for her slight lifting/turning of the model's head, then long GOP is great for this particular scenario. If, however, it were a busy shot like a camera moving on a steadicam through a detailed background environment like brick walls, a busy street, or even along the water, then one can see long GOP start to fall apart in compression compared to All-I. If all one is doing is filming an interview, for example, then long GOP is perfectly fine. Lots of movement & action, however, All-I would help.

Man if you think two totally different cameras being that close to identical in log is not matching, then matching doesn’t exist. Go on a tv truck show and match a ikegami with a sd lens and a sony with a hd lens, then you can come back and say whats “matching” 😂. The difference isn’t them not matching its the tolerance difference between sensors on the manufacturing line. They are the same. At least as same as the micro millimeter machines can make em. To be fair its good you saw the 1 percent differences, but this has nothing to do with the cameras, you set up 4 sony f5’s and they’ll be sometimes even more off. No two cameras in log will match closer. Its not possible. Good lesson to learn.

Many, many thanks. I have spent ages entering searches only to find the hosts using SMART lights. Nothing like yours could be found. Then thx to KZbin you laned on my Home screen. I am in the UK but I will look at Waveform first. Having tried several overhead Tubes I mostly find them too bright and too intense. Again, thank you.

It’s probably better to just use 5000k light bulbs because no one is looking at content under 6500k light bulbs, correct me if I’m wrong
@ChrisFrancis Жыл бұрын
Always better to start in the most accurate settings you can afford to be in to make sure the source material is correct. Also, ambient daylight is about 6500K so unless the sunshine is directly shining into the room, most of what’s coming through your windows is about 6500K (or if you’re watching on your phone outside on a cloudy day)

I'm here late, but that c200 footage looks better. I think the f/3.5 lens is making it look better. That f/5.6 glass (aperature/f-stop) on the c500 is not doing it justice. You really want to compare the cmos and how the on-board cpu/processor converts the light-matrix values to a bayer layer. But your comparison videos clearly show that the lens is the key. The camera body is not going to make the image better between a C200 and a c500. When you compare camera bodies, you shoot at in low light conditions like at night, or a night club, church, or inside-building with the same lens. Then you check if the pixels are hitting their limit in the blacks. You also test shooting the sun and very bright conditions to see if the whites get blown out. Next you test shooting a very high dynamic image like a woman sitting at a table in front of the sun. Good video though. It helped knowing that buying a lens will actually make the picture quality better. Its not worth going from c200 to c500. P.S. I am a CSC engineer and embedded programmer for scientific multimedia. I know the better lens is probably on the c200. I'm am here because someone offered me a c500 for $900. I don't want it now. I would have to change my man hours converting video and upgrade my RAM from 256GiB to 512GiB (on a AMD epyc system). I can get the same video quality while using a lossless compression with an embedded camera. I guess if you're hollywood and specs is the key to getting jobs, then maybe get a c500 because they might want 6k. Real good video.

Curious, why didn’t you just white balance the cameras to your color card? This would have solved the majority of the discernible differences between the cameras - even the lens variable.

Hi, did you use the same copy of the lens on each camera and do the tests one at a time, or you tested the cameras side by side with a different lens on each camera?
@AbbersSmileFace2 жыл бұрын
That is why it is recommended that if you need an exact camera match to order two of the same cameras directly one after the other at the same manufacturing facility bc these issues are not exclusive to different camera bodies.
