I also have preferred the Production color matrix. I don't know how true this is, but I read awhile ago it pushes colors more towards the Alexa representation for better matching

This is great! Thank you! I just picked up an XF605 and am hoping to get it to match to my FX6 in camera for a project where post color isn't going to happen. I can set the FX6 to ITU709, so I figured I'd set the 605 to a 709 profile and move on. Can you tell me what the difference is in the Canon camera between BT.709 Normal and BT.709 Standard?

I think the sharpness in clog2 and xavc at 0 is sometimes a little aggressive especially on faces with older skin. -10 is almost to soft but holds up very good in high contrast settings. I have not decided yet maybe I try -5. I have not testet the other settings such as skin detail etc.

@@Nils_Samp We could just use tools in post processing to soften the image but I like my image out of the camera as good as possible. Anyway, it would be good to know if -10 means no sharpening at all or something else. Do we have this information somewhere?

Great explanation, but here comes my story. I made the mistake to buy a Canon Vixia G50 and I tried to match it with Canon DSLR look in livestreaming. In post isn't that difficult to color correct. The biggest problem is that it has a very greenish color cast. Unacceptable for 1000 euros videocamera. However it has the option to change between Neutral and Video. And also has the possibility to change the Custom Picture where there are R-G, G-B.... Slope, Knee.. and other gibberish. I would appreciate if you could touch that problem in one of your tutorials. Thanks.

This is great! I recently upgraded from my 1dx mk2 to c70 this month. I used to use the standard color profile on my 1dx a lot as it gave out pretty nice colors. I shoot with BT 709 wide dr color profile right now but I feel the colors out of the 1dx were much natural and appealing to the eye. I shoot a lot of content for the internet which requires quick turnarounds so shooting LOG doesnt help me. Could you help me tackle this issue? The reds and yellows are a little off in the c70

@@manastakle what I would do is get in a controlled environment (no windows) w/ a good, consistent light source (video light, not practical light) and shoot both cameras at a color chart (one at a time, with the same exact lens on both cameras) and then bring them into Resolve or Premiere like I did in this video and look at what they're doing in the Vectorscope, take notes on where the C70 differs and then make tweaks inside the camera's custom picture settings to get them to match as closely as possible. Will probably take several rounds of going back and forth, but I'm sure you'd be able to end up with an in-camera settings recipe that would get it pretty close. I've never shot with the 1DX, but my experience with Canon DSLR's is that they run a lot more yellow in the skin tones which would mean that the Neutral color matrix in the C70 is where I would start and then tweak from there. Hope that helps!
