Contra is probably the easiest, the first R&G game that was SO. FREAKING. HARD (until you enter the Konami Code for those sweet, sweet lives). But I have always been a huge fan of metal slug. The graphics for the time were beautiful (and still are). And cuphead, don't even get me started. Pixel perfect brilliance! 🥵😍

I have so many incredible memories from playing Contra as a kid, but my favorite memory was watching my brother basically memorize every level so he could beat the game without dying a single time. Twas incredible. Shout out to VDGMS and Bitmap Books.

While I agree with this statement I’m beyond tired of the roguelike trend. I’m hoping this one will actually be good and stand to be different from the rest. The art style is there though I’m just hoping for a decent side story in the universe or something. I absolutely loved the first game and would love to see more of Callisto protocol

It's probably because the team Cherry's studio is not that big of a team and the game will be absolutely massive with over 100 benches compared to hollow Knight's 46 or so

if they do bring lttp back i hope to god they do a whole ass remake and make it 3d like current time instead of just an overhauled remaster lttp is what made zelda what it is and tbh i dont understand how it has not been listed as the greatest zelda of all time the story in my opinon just shits on oot, this botw and totk shit needs to stop i can't even sit and play it for hours like i can lttp, and lttp i can go back and replay it constantly over and over again without feeling dread of having to redo everything all over again if i was to restart botw or totk i would just quit, and oot has a lot of content in the game that just doesn't hit liek the first time u play it like, lttp does bc the story is the best in all in my opinion idk how meany times ive gone to replay the rest of the games and i just get bored and put it back down lttp there isn't a borring moment

For some other (fairly recent) games with remarkable styles, i can *strongly* recommend looking into Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, Cookie Cutter, Blud and Zet Zillions. Harold Halibut is visually phenomenal too and strong as a story-- less strong as a game. Would want to mention No Straight Roads too, but that's from 2020. And also Soulstice. That one has a style (for most humanoid characters and some monsters at least) that reminds me of Italian cartoons/comics like Huntik, but more dark mature fantasy like Darksiders in both tone and writing. Some other strong ones that are already out: - Papetura - Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands - Guacamelee 1 and 2 - Nobody Saves the World - Orten was the Case For upcoming games with strong styles, there's the likes of - Immortal: And the Death that Follows - Genokids - My Familiair - Resistor - Phonopolis (by Amanita Design-- the Machinarium, Samorost and Happy Game developers) - Whatever it is that Moonhood Studios is currently working on (previously Zoink! which made stuff like Lost in Random and Stick It To The Man) - Judero - Decline's Drops - Kraino Rebirth - The Dungeon Experience (by the fellow who made Paradigm) - Near-Mage - The Mermaid Mask/The Mermaid's Tongue - Loco Motive - Bad Boro - Ruffy and the Riverside Hope that these all may be interesting for you to look into! Cookie Cutter has more planned: both in the next update and in future ones, if support can allow for it. New areas, characters, enemies, quests, story beats, weapons, bosses, etc.

How important is length of a game?

It depends on the game (and to some, the price), a narrative driven game with very little actual gameplay shouldn’t be 60 hours but an open world game like Elden Ring is so complex, beautiful, and deep that it justifies its length. On the other hand, indie games with unique gameplay elements can sometimes feel too short because the devs left a lot of potential ideas on the table in order to ship the game

Yeah I think its pretty fun, but definitely a little unpolished. I think its souls inspiration are kinda more souls-adjacent -- it has a parry window that is super forgiving and the combat is not what I would call bone crunching or even hard. I do like the stick and move flow of the combat tho

They haven’t said anything, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t. The studio has a good history on consoles with Ori and NRFTW feels like a great fit.

My only problem with the game is the healing. Not only is it super slow, but it kind of locks you in a way. During high pace fast action fights, you are kind if just forced to sit there as you heal, and it breaks the emersion. You should atleast be able to break the animation to hit a dodge or parry because most of my deaths come from being locked in while trying to heal.

Thanks. Unlike some puzzle games, there was never a time where they felt overwhelming. There is also an assist/help feature that you can toggle on/off. Also 15k would be great, but it’s just a number, more positive comments like this one (even constructive criticism and respectful debate) is what is more important, so thanks again.
