Damn, Klaviyo is depressing. Finally created an abandoned cart flow, and when I went to my website, entered all my details, and left a checkout.... IT DIDN'T WORK. Not a single email is received after 10 minutes (which is the time of the first one). Any idea?

Could be a couple of reasons, under metrics, make sure the "Add to cart" metric is firing when something gets added. Then go into the flow and click on the trigger and click on "preview trigger setup" this will show you all the trigger events, yours should be there. Then click on the actual email in the flow and then click on "view all analytics" for that email, then click on "recipient activity" which will show you what got sent or skipped and why. Also, make sure "Smart Sending" is off on the email. Also, check your spam. If this is too confusing, DM me on Instagram and I'll help.

Do you need to add a trigger after each email? So if the customer has placed an order since starting the flow, they'd exit the flow.

No, the Abandoned Cart Flow is set up with a "Flow Filter" that's set to "Placed order zero times since starting this flow". Flow filters will be checked before each email is sent. So, if someone makes a purchase after starting this flow they will be removed before the next email gets sent. This is one of the reasons why the abandoned cart flow is so powerful, you can set up a lot of emails but they will only be sent to people that haven't made a purchase yet.

Good for you! This is an abandoned cart email series, it helps people make the decision to complete the purchase they started. Some will ignore it, and some might block it, that's life.

This video helped me immensely! When I upgraded to Shopify 2.0, my code snippet stopped working and even Klaviyo tech support was stumped. The code for class has changed since the video, but I was still able to use the information here to figure it out!

Glad it helped! Yes, Klaviyo added a Custom Liquid section for Shopify 2.0 themes but I still do it this way because it just works.

I set up the welcome series but when someone signs up they don’t recieve the email like it should automatically

Make sure they are being added to the correct list and that your Welcome Series is triggering on the correct list. Also, if you have Double Opt-In set up for that list, they will have to confirm before the Welcome Series starts.

@@EliWheaton how am i able to turn off the double opt in email until they receive the welcome email? Also for the list when i go to add members it asks me to manually search each one up and add it. Is that correct?

@@rosietick1452 Each list has its own opt-in settings. You can find them by clicking on Lists & Segments, then click on the list you want, then there will be a Settings tab. I don't understand your second question, subscribers should come from a form on your website, or you can import them from a list, or add them manually.

For anyone interested in Elis services, I booked a call with him and not only did he OVER deliver, and I think thats an understatement but we were having a little trouble trying to add some snippets to make sure they were correct. But he went above and beyond with helping me fix this issue. No, you have to clone the flow and then attach the newly created flow to the list you want.

Really great insightful video. One thing I can't work out, is how you take somebody out of this welcome flow if they make a purchase? (which I've read you should do?)

I don't usually remove someone from the Welcome Series after they make a purchase. I will add a conditional split at the end of the series to see if they've used the discount code and then send them a reminder if they haven't. But if you really wanted to remove them once they make a purchase, you could add a Flow Filter to remove them if they've made a purchase since starting the flow, just like how the Abandoned Cart flow works.

@@delisia_j3220 I had to call klaviyo customer care and have them give me custom codes for the product.liquid theme. They said the reason it wasn’t working is because my Shopify store is using a custom theme to begin with

First of all, the way the abandoned cart works is if the customer makes a purchase they exit the flow and will no longer receive the following emails. Also, just my experience, but sales generally requires some pressure to get customers to move through the buying cycle. Lastly, if they don't buy after this series of emails, there's a good chance they aren't your customer. Thanks for watching!

If it's a new site and you're on a free plan, you might have to double opt-in before you get the first email. Did you do that? The confirmation might be in your spam box.
