This one makes me weak in the knees. Love the clean lines without lifelines but rigged so that no one really needs to go forward. Heck if they fall off, God didn't want them on it. 😆

Where's the boat ?
@andyvare8541Ай бұрын
A Mark II. I sailed on the first one, with Paul Sharp, Tim Sullivan and Pete Newbury. We called her Ninja, and she was black. Must've been 1986 or so. Royal hassle getting across on heavy air tacks. Soooo much fun to sail too.

Hit the docks and make some more Retroboat videos. Restart with the Olson 25. I had one 1985-2022 and used your original cookbook tuning and sailing guide for it. Then do more of Carl Schumacher's designs from 26'-34'. Add some Tom Wylie designs and then jump back to J/Boats and do the J/100.

Your video was just preceded by a Trump campaign commercial. Evidently, his algorithm is out of whack but that has been the case since he was born.

Bravo! Really well presented! Lots of energy and the presentation brought me back to better times when my then GF and I were in CA looking for SC50. Ended up taking home an Olson 40. While in CA. we met Bill Lee. There was at least one SC50 that was built without the step up in the middle. I think it was also a triple spreader. Love the boat. Love those days. Bill Lee was way before his time. He really changed the world of sailing while everyone else was still doing the heavy, dangerous and costly IOR racing game, Bill just made some nice fair lined boats. Very cool indeed!

I sailed MORC back in the day. Did the whole east Coast circuit every year on a g&s 27 Pigs at Sea. I had opportunity to race on easy go on several occasions when it ended up in the Chesapeake which was one of the NM customs you mentioned. I miss those days, MORC was great racing, very competitive. S2 9.1, B25 santana 27 Kirby 30 Most of those old designs are still quite fast for club buoy racing. Not too many are left. Thanks for bringing them to light.

The engine is under the steps, that is the battery compartment. You can remove the tube and the bunks in the forward v-berth and install a bed, we did it on mine.

"Old, early, classic" are words that amuse me. "Modern Yacht design is so-o-o grossly out of touch with beauty, designers and brokers demean great beauty with "old, early, classic". The best of yacht design will never be "old".

Great to see this video as I owned hull #1 Mas Rapido in the 90's and raced her double-handed in the '94 Pacific Cup amongst many other coastal races. Such a great boat to sail single-handed. Saw 22 kts several times and I miss owning her. Cheers!

partly because i suck, partly because i guess we were too narrow cast in the boats that we covered but, yeah, super disappointed that the series didn't take off.
