Interestingly I like how more natural it sounds than your studio mic. Do not get me wrong, your studio mic does sound amazing but I feel like it just does not match with the nature of these videos in my opinion. Thank you a lot for this video!

I use Phantom LUTs and tend to only overexpose (whole scene metering) by a stop, maybe less. I do use a monitor tho and check waveforms and false colour. Shooting weddings I make sure the dress is fine and dark suit isn't a crushed mess. I've found when I started and was over exposing more towards 2 stops everything was too bright and required a lot of pulling down. When I dropped it a stop or more it feels more to my liking as soon as the LUT goes on. It does depend on the scene and whether bright sun or overcast which obviously creates a difference in shadows.

Never used it. Just check my current Mackie Onyx Producer 2/2 does have 32 Bit Float as an option. I will try it for sure. As far as file size, is it twice the file size of 24 Bit? Or less or more?

I can't believe how much I learned from this video, and my peers consider me audio savvy! Thanks especially for recommendations on outboard compressors that do not cost as much as an automobile. ;-) This was great, and I downloaded the TDR free stuff for more experimentation. I'm an award-winning voiceover artist but something about my voice triggers a lot of sibilance the moment I compress my recordings, so I'm looking forward to ever-more ways to get the sizzle out of those S's. Thanks again!

Thank you for the review. I am actually torn between the B300 and the G300. I really prefer portability but if you sandwich the G300 light and control panel, its the same thickness with the B300. Can you please advise? Many thanks.
@HarvVideoAudioStuff5 күн бұрын
Many thanks, if you value portability then I’d say definitely the B300 (less wires, compact, quicker setup). I’ve actually got a G300 in my workspace as my fill light but only because I like being able to dial it in from the controller unit, it’s not one that I take with me to shoot 👍🏻

Hey buddy, just a heads up, I never received the lights I ordered. After sending many emails and messages, I gave up. Today, I went on their website, and their site has been taken down with no word to any customers. So basically, they have stolen money from people. I know I'm not the only one looking at the social media comments they have received.

Thanks Harv. I do like the ability to use the Sony hot shoe. But not enough to ditch my Hollyland Lark II I think. I still like the sound of that better than the Godox here, and the Lark looks so much better worn around the neck. Appreciate the review though. It's a really confusing market just now.

I don't like the XT1 at all. The sound is just to thin and the receiver being the charging case is simply a stupid and not convenient solution in daily use at all. Also the windmuff makes the tiny mic actually bigger and more obvious than most other mics. The mic also has a weird weight distribution and it doesn't fit well on any shirt. Usually I like Harv's opinion but I can't agree in the case of the XT1, I definitely won't use it anymore, neither would I recommend it to anyone

Yeah I’m not mad about the tone either, but I’m aware that it’s a pretty subjective thing. That’s why I tend to give my opinion of everything except for the sound and just leave clips for viewers to make up their own minds 👍🏻

@@HarvVideoAudioStuff well it's not really subjective in this case, it sounds muffled, tiny, hallow and lacks any details and clarity. How's that subjective. I think you should say it as it is in a review. If it sounds good you say it's good but if it's bad, all of a sudden it's subjective, how does this make sense. Sorry but don't risk your reputation like this so early on. Criticism is badly needed in this space and you're already starting to show some softness, not a good sigh. I had high hope in this channel when I found it but it's slowly going in a similar direction like many influencer before. Reaching 100k on the long winding path isn't everything after all (you don't really have to mention this every single video since for the past 20-30k subs, feels weird. Just keep doing what you're doing, just trying to reach a certain goal isn't gonna do you anything
@HarvVideoAudioStuff16 күн бұрын
Points duly noted, however I’d say this was a little unfair…when I initially tested this I admittedly wasn’t blown away by the sound, but after my processing stage I found it to be totally useable. This shows that you can get robust enough files to fatten/sweeten etc to the users taste in editing. On top of this I also think the characteristics you described from the Godox are exaggerated by the stark difference between the unprocessed Godox and my larger than life overhead mic. Please don’t mistake the fact that I didn’t totally slate this product with a softening, it’s more complex than good/bad etc Noted re the subs in the intro, this is for new viewers to the channel but I’d been considering changing it for a while 😄
@TheNitpicker16 күн бұрын
@@HarvVideoAudioStuff fair enough, yes I know things are often more complex than just good or bad, but when it comes to buying it's not, you either buy it or not. Money spend or not. Audition: the design of the plugins is not ok on a 4K monitor but at least it has the apply button and I can do the denoise/dehum aso. Premiere pro-the design on a 4K monitor is completely messed up and there is no apply button. Will that be fixed? Do you have the same problem? Do you have to change the settings of the monitor to see properly the plugin??? I had that problem years ago with ACDsea, Nik Collection color efex...but that was solved.

the good: I don't subscribe to any channels. I've subscribed. Integrity is doing the right thing when no one's looking, check. Your review was thorough and honest as far as I could tell. the bad: nothing from you - but I have glowing-review fatigue from obvious biased and slanted advocates in this world from technology to politics to every corner of everything we could ever want to research. It's not enough just to research, it harder and harder with AI and paid placements to have your BS detector tuned in and accurate. What a world - I know you didn't make it. Ideally you would have emulation software in headphones that would detect paid-reviews and bias (not audio bias), but. . just bias. I assume headphones will never be able to detect disinformation. Thank you for your continued honesty in your channel and cheers to you!

I stand by it, plus 97.7% thumbs up for this video would suggest otherwise. Anyway it wasn’t an overall criticism of soundguys themselves (I actually like their website) but that their scoring system which I still believe isn’t suitable for the product. These cans are simply not 6.2/10!

its good to introduce different types of sharpening and image processing like artificial local contrast, sharpening halos (nightmare) and just pixel sharpness, as well as Aliasing. i hate recent smartphones especially iPhones goes extremely on local contrast, HDR fish look (way to much) as well as insane amount of sharpening halos around the contrasty objects and lines. hate these. i heard of a plugin called dehaloencer or something for adobe premiere for video.

I'm using the Freewell magnetic setup and have to say that I like it. I keep a magnetic base on three lenses and have three magnetic caps. The ND's, CPL, and Mist filters snap right on on and off, are stackable, and store in a nice case. I shoot APSC so my lenses are all the same size thread (so far, anyway!) But this does look like a good set up.
