Nice to see another video from you. Probably not getting this handheld specifically, managed to upgrade into a RP4P AND an Odin 2 Max for VERY cheap (!) so currently setting those up, but these simpler handhelds are still VERY nice. Still have my Retroid Pocket Go and, once that goes, the 351P for small "beater devices", but great to know there are cheap options. Aladdin looks a BIT slow (?) not just GBA. Something you can confirm? For NES/GB/GBC this looks like it'd be pretty great though actually. Edit: ah you did confirm it towards the end of the video. Still... Doesn't look THAT bad considering the price.

@@SicketMog Hey SicketMog, glad to see you here. Gratz for getting the RP4P and Odin 2 Max. Did you make yourself some Christmas presents there :) ? I‘m not too mich into these high-end emulation handhelds but these are absolutely great. I find it more challenging to pimp those cheaper devices and get the max out of them. The Aladdin gameplay you see in the video was played on the SNES emulator and runs pretty well on the device. GBA emulation is more demanding and so more titles struggle to play well. Still the majority of GBA games run Ok. It‘s a great device for the price and if you just like to play some 8-bit or some 16-bit titles it‘s absolutely worth the price.

@@MashTec Ah forgot to reply to you mb; read it though but was hectic around new years (happy new year!). I'm sticking around and am also directing some more people to your channel when given the chance.😉All good with you? Specifically SNES looked a bit slow though was my reaction, not just GBA, but don't have much experience with Aladdin so maybe that's just how it runs (?). Yeah man you could say that. Got them before christmas for cheap (especially the Odin was a steal; Max model for about $250 with shipping just before the domestic auctionsite decided they were going to screw all customers over with extra fees). Setting them up is even "worse" than it was for Linux as a non-techy person. Also keep getting distracted playing native android rather than setting it (RP4P for now) up to look nice; that's a nice problem to have though. Currently looking into docks for making both into portable multiplayer consoles more similar to Switch. Have one for the Odin, courtesy of Ugreen who had a sale during christmas, but dk if it doubles for the RP4P; have not looked into it. For sure though still love my 351P, Apotris gets a lot of play, so thank you again for getting me started with that setup process. To get something like this for $7 is pretty insane when you think about where emulation was in the early 00's (used to play on Nesticle feeling like an OG). This would make a great cheap present for someone casual. I hear you when it comes to the attitude of "making a lot with a little" so to speak. In fact the entire emulation handheld market is insane rn... Think I've told this story before elsewhere but me and my childhood friends used to talk- and dream about "a multiconsole that could play every cart- and CD-based game". Now they exist and you don't even need carts and you have extras like wireless headphones and whatnot... and they're PORTABLE with shaders and ffw/rw and can play movies/music as well and be connected to the TV and some have wireless controllers and wifi vs etc etc and all of this for a fraction of what a console back then cost. It's crazier than we even dared to dream; will hopefully never get used to it. This fact + indies = pretty great times to be into gaming (despite AAA seemingly falling off a cliff lately). Edit: don't remember if I got this tip from you specifically (?) but to anyone watching will recommend getting a program called "SD card formatter". It saved me a couple of extra SD-cards, for cheap devices such as this, that I thought were damaged permanently during the setup process for the 351 series. Just a random tip.👍

A brilliant guide. The purple neo works so well and it is very simple to apply. Initially, I had issues trying to extract to the SD, I used both the OS extract and 7-zip and both failed multiple times. I noticed in your video you used WinRAR to extract the files to the SD so I did the same and it worked! Thank you for the video!

Can I just re format the SD card that came with the data frog and put the multi core in there
@MashTecАй бұрын
Hi Dirk, yes you could do that, but i wouldn‘t recommend you to do. Usually the micro SDcard that comes with the device is of a cheap brand. Those cards tend to wear out quick and may come with weird problems (e.g. loading failures, partly loss of data, no boot). I‘d recommend you to keep the original card as backup and install a new system to a new SDcard from Samsung or Sandisk. 16GB are enough and you get these cards for around $10. ensure to format the card in FAT32 when you go for it ;) enjoy my friend
