The fix for me was doing exactly what it told me to do. Turns out I only had 4G of RAM installed in my Mac and adding a VST was too much for it. I'm surprised I didn't fry the damn thing. Luckily it's an old 2010 27" iMac and I was able to install another 16GB without having to buy a whole new computer lol. Anyway, if this doesn't fix your problem, you might want to check how much RAM your computer actually has to work with. With Pro Tools/ VSTs/ plugins, you should be running on at least 16GB (Which is something I just learned lol)

Thanks for adding the PLUGIN problem because I didn't have the video enabled. So off to see what plugins are probably causing the problems.

It is absolutely bullshit how this dude only has a few thousand subs when he is dropping gems actual examples to learn from. All these other clowns with 100-200K and their generic vids should be checked. Very frustrating and sad. Keep up the amazing channel and nuggets you’re dropping! 🙏🏼👊🏼

Ive always wanted to know, how much disc playback cache size exactly is "NORMAL" anyway?? Cause it drops the memory from 100% down to zero on my rig. Hmmm

Anybody know a key command shortcut to pull up that “tempo change” window. I hate having to double click that tiny red arrow

Hello, I'm Shiyan. This is a great video. I love to compose music so much, especially film score music. I want to learn music composition easily and compose intense, dramatic, and suspense film scores using string instruments, trombone, horn, clarinet, flute, and some percussion. I also want to compose South Indian classical music. I don't want to make music composition my profession, but I just want to do this as a hobby. The problem is, I have no music theory knowledge. There are so many things I don't understand in DAWS. Sometimes, I get scared when I look at DAWs. I also get the feeling that learning to compose music I love may be impossible to me. I get so discouraged. What should I do to learn music compositon and start composing? Do you recommend me to follow a music composition course?

This is brilliant. Been playing keyboard for years but I wanted to see if I could do something along the lines of what you've just explained there. Glad to know I can and I'm going to start using that. Great tutorial. Thanks.

Done it. Not worth it….. Very basic and very little feedback from other people. Dont waste your money. Talk to somebody who has done the course and let them tell you things for 5 minuts.

How do I delete bars and make the tracks snap to each other and also to not have to redo the tempo mapping of the project. So like is there a way for the tempo mapping to snap back to a new location without doing it manually or not really?

So what do I do when I need my video? I'm editing SFX and Protools in trying to index my SFX library. I keep getting a low RAM warning even though the activity memory is only at 5%. I'm using a Mac Studio with an M1 chip and 32 GB of RAM, Pro Tools Ultimate 2021.10.

Confusing terminology. Please call the track that the reverb is on the 'reverb return', not the 'reverb send'.

Boosted notches can create strange howling and whistling anomalies. Why are we doing this? I guess to jigsaw the puzzle together? Thoughts?

If you asked me a month ago I would've said EQ, more specifically surgical EQ. Now that I have some really great compressor plugins I'd say compression. While certain instruments will probably need to be EQ'd to fit in a mix (Drums come to mind), compressors are a simpler way to make everything fit by adjusting how present and in-your-face they are in the mix. If you compress the crap out of your drums and then do medium compression on your bass then you probably don't need to compress your guitars much, if at all. Recently I took the raw tracks from a mix I did that was primarily mixed through EQ and un-did all the plugins, then just focused on compressing them. Even with the same compressor plug-in, if the instruments are all compressed differently in ways that focus on their strengths, then you may only need to do 1 or 2 EQ moves per track. It also helps to compress the Master Bus to glue everything together. Ask me in a month and I'll probably say reverb.

Unnecessarily over-complicated, as well as requiring the purchase of Waves plugins. I tried using these Waves plugins to reduce cassette tape hiss from the language tapes that I digitised by transferring to PC. It wasn't convincing, in that it slightly reduced top-end and produced audio artifacts. I found that using a gate plugin was better. I initially tried using the free GGate, but it failed to completely remove hiss from the first few microseconds of wanted sound. Then I tried (the also free) ReaGate, and it was perfect.

If the end goal is to make the part “fit”, I feel like you could use either. But, Compression usually has fewer parameters. If you multiply number of parameters by the number of tracks to get your total number of mixing decisions, you have to make fewer decisions using compression across all tracks.
