You can deduct without being under LLC. LLC (unless electing for a corp status) have nothing to do with taxes. Without an LLC you’d just be considered contractor/1099, which you will still be able to write things off related to that “business” you’re just considered a sole proprietor. @12:40 you got a bit confusing so I just want to make sure people understand the difference

Really love how putting conservative targets can make significant profits attainable. One big struggle is passing phase 2 of these challenges: yes, these companies all have phase 2, it's the fact you need to hit the buffer amount after you pass phase 1 and get that "live" trader certificate. Plan to be in those accounts trading with no payouts for a while if using those small targets.

The point you make at 15:34 about not being able to write off your prop firm fees is not 100% accurate. Or, at least it doesn't tell the full story. What you pointed out is true if you are trading as an individual tax payer. However, it should also be pointed out that if trading for prop firms under the umbrella of a business structure, an LLC for instance, then all business epenses would be eligible for writeoffs, including evaluation fees, subscription fees, etc. So, the best bang for the buck for prop firm trading as a US citizen/resident is to trade as a busines entity. You kind of touched on that briefly right after making this point, but didn't really delve into it. Finally, this video really only applies to American citizens, or foreigners that are resident in the US. Most other citizens can avoid high taxes by relocating to a zero or low tax country. For Americans to do that, they must utilize one of three methods to accomplish it: 1.Move to Puerto Rico under ACT 60,; 2. Renounce US citizenship for a different citizenship, and then live in a tax haven where you trade; 3. Form a non-controlled foreign company structure located in a tax haven (meaning US citizens cannot collectively own more than 50% of the total company shares), trade under the umbrella of that corporation, and take only a small minimal salary from the corporation, whereby as a US citizen taxes would have to be paid on the salary, and then let the majority of the trading income build up in the company name/bank account(s). However, if planning to remain a US citizen plus eventually repatriating thos untaxed funds, then a large tax burden would follow.

So the payouts that you get from each phase goes into your bank account or towards the live account?
