Appreciate the information here regards the bus 🚌 service trip going over the mountain passes. Very interested in this and didn't know such service existed. Might be a good idea to do a whole video on this subject 🤔 👀. Do you know where such info would be available??? And assuming STP makes that 9hr journey free ?. Does it stop and let you out to viewing 🤔. Thanks mate, going October 2025, staying Lauterbrenan 👍 7 nights.

Thank you Arno for an absolutely brilliant video. I particularly like the way you stress the countless scenic bus routes in the area. Swiss public transport is Not Just Trains. There is a special problem with tourists from Britain and some other English speaking countries, who regard buses as an inferior means of transport . Switzerland is proof that buses can be just as good as trains.

An absolutely fantastic video, jammed full of great information. I did not know about Ristis at Engelberg! And I would never have dreamt of recommending a trip from Lucerne to Uetliberg! But it is easily doable and FREE with the STP, so why not?! Everybody staying at Lucerne should seriously consider getting an STP. But TWO words of warning. Amazingly the Swiss Transport Museum is not Free with the STP; nor is the funicular from Seelisberg down to Treib. Both are 50% discount. The position regarding the Seelisberg funicular is very strange given that all the important lines close by, Stockhutte, Klewenalp, Stoos and Rigi are free with the STP.
@myswissalps19 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like the tips! Correct, the fantastic transport museum (www.myswissalps.com/activity/museum-of-transport/) is not free, while others in Lucerne are. The trains, boats and buses to get there are included in the Swiss Travel Pass though. Treib would indeed be great if it was fully included.

@myswissalpsАй бұрын
Thanks for your question! Tickets are for the travel from A to B, and you do not need these with a Swiss Travel Pass. Seat reservations are a separate thing and only required for a few tourist trains like the Glacier Express. They need to be purchased, regardless if you travel on a Swiss Travel Pass, tickets, Eurail, etc. Here's more information: www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/seat-reservation/ and www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/

Excellent video. However the function 'longer interchange time' is unsatisfactory. You can only ask for 50% more time or 100% more. And if you ask for a longer interchange time, that time is applied to all transfers, even where you know the transfer will be 'cross-platform' and a longer transfer time is not needed. For example, suppose that a family is travelling from Solothurn to St Moritz with Skis, Sledges and small children. They think, 'We will need ten minutes for the change at Zurich, if we have to come up from the underground platforms, but the four minutes at Chur is fine because we know the change is across the platform.' The electronic timetable cannot cater for this family's perfectly reasonable requirements. KInd regards, Roger.

Thanks for an interesting video - but there does not seem to be any sound. One important thing was shown towards the end of the video. The bus shelter and stop for the bus to Schwyz! I would stress that the 501 bus runs every 30 minutes to/from Schwyz train station and every hour on to the important junction at Arth-Goldau. People who consult MySwissAlps need constant reminding that Swiss public transport is' Not Just Trains'.
@myswissalps2 ай бұрын
There's no sound in this video :-) I decided to leave it out because you'd only hear the chatter of other passengers. I didn't add music either, because it's hard to pick something that everyone likes. Good point about how to reach the Stoosbahn. It's indeed easy. A video with detailed explanation about how to get there is planned. With sound!

Further to my previous reply I have just entered an imaginary journey from Luzern to Bern, St Ursula's Church. As I expected, the electronic timetable showed me how to get from Bern station to the correct tram stop; which tram to catch; where to get off (Luisenstrasse) and then how to walk to the church.

Yes, it's great, that's a perfect example of how it helps to get just about anywhere.

Many thanks for this video. I particularly welcome .the fact that you stressed that the electronic timetable is 'Not Just Trains', but covers all forms of public transport. The mistake I sometimes make is the problem you refer to at 2m 20s. I enter a name of a bus/tram stop, for example Bern Bahnhof, when I should have just entered the name of the destination town - in this case 'Bern'.

Great video particularly drawing attention to the half price fares displayed on the app. The demonstartion is exactly how the app presents on my PC, however it is quite different on the mobile App. When you go to the tickets page and follow the sign in as "guest" it takes you straight to name registration and then directly to the paymen page with no opportunity to select full price or STP or whatever. The only way on the app to see true pricing is to tap passenger 1 and it then goes to "who is travelling" and 'enter co passenger" . Enter your details into co passenger details and hey presto all the options appear. Once you details are in they seem to be there forever as I cannot delete them unless I uninstall the App. Once the details are in, each successive journey shows the no discount price until you go back to the tickets page, tap passenger 1 which will then allow you to choose another option. Am I doing something wrong?
@myswissalps2 ай бұрын
I don't think you're doing something wrong. It sounds like the way I do it in the app too. However, I rarely use it for prices and tickets, only for train schedules. With a Swiss Travel Pass, everything is free anyway, except mountains and the discounts on those can be checked as explained in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5LIqoVua5tlj80. By the way, co-passengers can be deleted in the app, so you can use quite some variations if needed. To do so, go to Profile, and then Co-passenger. Select one and click the "Delete co-passenger" button.

Excellent video! One tip. If you know there is more than one route from your starting point but you want to take one specific route to your destination look at a map! Find a station which is ONLY on the route you want to pick, not on any of the alternatives. For example, if you want to go from Lugano to Zurich by the old ''Panorama' route, thus avoiding the 57 kms long 'Gotthard Base Tunnel', find a station which is only on the Panorama route. (The Panorama route will look indirect on the map!) Airolo is only on the old route, so type in Airolo. Do not type in (say) 'Altdorf', which is on both routes.
