Yall still owe me stickers from The State: Skits and Stickers VHS I bought back in the nineties. Although it came skits as advertised, the stickers were noticeably missing.

The production designer did a lot of winking at the audience, like how the last scene mimics a theater stage and even has props like her sister’s wheelchair and costumes hung in racks on hangers just off to the side of the action. I had zero interest in the movie so I had a lot of time to watch the corners looking for things and ended up really impressed by the effort and care put into the sets.

This is a top 3 deleted scene. I love the Two Smear Campaigns (which I understand cutting because of changing that whole plot point). "Never did have a sweet tooth" kills me every time. And my favorite one is Joel going on a date with Tiffany after breaking up with Molly. "In Russia, there's only one kind of peanut butter. In America, there are so many types peanut butter." 🤣

i rewatched "a futile and stupid gesture" after watching a certain other recent 1970s-comedy-film. you really made a great film with that (and this one too of course).
