What $100 for electricity in nyc 😮😮 I pay $20.65 a month, technically it’s only $18 something plus two dollars in tax, for a one bedroom in Minneapolis.

THIS IS AWESOME. I love that you added the dining table, I think it gives it more of elevated feel when you’re eating at the table some nights. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with broker’s fee when it helps you lock in SUCH a great DEAL! 🎉 thank you for sharing your monthly breakdown, it’s good to see the electricity costs . I am seeking an artist’s loft so this helps me a lot. Cheers.

Midtown a place you go to chill, not to live. If you live there, you're going to be sick and tired bumping into tourist lol. That 4th apt, I was like you really want to live a block from Times Sq lol. BK I love. I actually never left BK ever since I moved to NYC. I think you made the best decision. You have a car so you're good. Queens is cool. I think you might like Forest Hills or even Astoria.

I used to live in Brooklyn. Now, I live in Manhattan. If you're gonna move to The City. Get rid of the car. You won't need a can, living in Manhattan.
@hummersdАй бұрын
Love the different places you explored, and great point about not breaking the lease, but got experience knowing what you may face when looking when you can move. I'd suggest since you work in Midtown, you'd have options closer to the west side on the Hudson (which should be quieter), or commute from the north since you'd have 123 and AC for transit -- even though you want to not commute, it should be shorter instead of all the way over in Brooklyn.

9:19 I guess this isn't a London thing or even a UK thing but property as I'm sure you know here has become a business without the obligation to see it as a moral obligation to see owning to rent as a social responsibility. It's understandable if there's heavy damage but as you said people have left properties virtually as they got it and it's like the landlord is so greedy they were always looking for an excuse to keep some or all of the tenants deposit. The sad thing is that deposit would be going towards the tenants' next rental, whereas as minor wear and tear should be absorbed by the landlord.

Portugal is Fantastic! The cost of living is cheap; but the People of Portugal is what makes it so great. Unlike Brazil, the majority of the People you meet all over the country speaks fluent English. So it’s very easy to integrate into. Also, its something about their Society - Really Portuguese Speaking Societies in General - Angola, Cape Verde, Brazil - where the Average Person you meet goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and happier than you were before you started speaking to them! It Felt Like EVERY PERSON I met in Portugal sent me away with a hearty laugh or smile! I’ve visited 52 countries around the world and I dont think I’ve ever felt SAFER and More PEACE visiting a place for the first time as I was in Portugal. If I ever have kids, I’m going to have to think long and hard about moving to Portugal to Raise them… for real for real!

I agree with this! Seems like a great place to grow up as long as you’re in a diverse area

I believe that things must be cheap for a country with a minimum salary of €800.00 a month. Things are cheap for folks with good salaries, which is not the case for the average Portuguese resident. I lived in Portugal a few years ago. I am not a fan. Bureaucracy and incompency are rife in Portugal. Some people call it being laid back. I call it the way I see it.
@nunoelias2374Ай бұрын
Hi! Native Portuguese here 🫡 I appreciate this video and was happy to know how much you liked our culture and lifestyle. Regarding cost of living: although it's a great country to live in, your salary must be higher than average, i would say at least 2k a month (gross). Otherwise, the cost of living becomes unbearable, especially in Lisbon. The average Portuguese have a salary around 1k per month, and this hardly covers basic needs.
@dev.morrisonАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! I think something needs to be done to improve the affordability for locals, too.

I think you will find cities like Lisbon and countries like Portugal will have a more aggressive stance towards remote workers over the next few years
@beingemmaАй бұрын
Do note though not every listing on street easy will advertise as rent stabilized but you might find out when you apply. Sometimes they don't post it if they want to find higher qualified tenants. That is what happened to me. But I do recommend always search under your max budget. 100% avoid 1st or basements though you are lucky you never had an issue. In Manhattan my mom is on the 2nd floor and in the winter occasionally will have a mouse to catch (old building) and when I lived near Columbia in Manhattan I was on the 4th but had a roach issue that was awful (old building).
