It’s people stopping you from working because they fell off cliff. It’s just like as a kid when you’re doing well in math class and everyone else they start to become disruptive. That child personality never changes. It’s crabs getting boiled pulling the others back into the port. I bet if you study the old population in Japan and southern I bet there are significant difference in the personalities of the people and they’re a-holes. A-holes like drunks are the leading cause of death. You can also notice when there is a drunk a-hole the good people around them die first.

100%; also true for exercise/strength training as well; eg. you can do the top 5 exercises to grow your biceps but if you can only sustain that for 3 months you will see less gains compared to the guy that just do progressive dumb bell curls 3x a week for the next 12 months. same for leg exercises, etc.

My thing with CR though is, if you CR long enough, is it still CR? What I mean is, if you eat a 20% deficit indefinitely, you won't lose weight at some point, your weight will plateau. So presumably this means your body has achieved some efficiency based on the amount of food it is getting. Edit: I guess you would have to continue to cut more and more calories. At which point you would be undernourished. So presumably that's what you are talking about? I'm just thinking about this, because Bryan Johnson says he eats CR, but always 2250kcal and he is metabolically efficient, so he isn't really in a deficit imo.

I think for this you'd also have to consider other variables. If one is always in CR, does that person's body reach an equilibrium with what fuel it's getting before it gets too sick because the immune system is non existent and malnourished?
@kuro2797
@kuro2797 Минут бұрын
I think the difference is that once you reach the bottom of reserves, the body is no longer trying to 'take' energy from said reserves, and instead lowers the activity of the metabolism (hence why you get a lower core temp). In other words, you're still at a caloric deficit. It's just your body's no longer trying to compensate via reserves and instead compensates via reducing consumption.

You are still talking about the Somatic Mutations Theory when cancer stem cells have discovered. Why? The body produces cancer stem cells and these then develop the cancer mass and metastasis takes place with the help of the immune system. If this is happening it is impossible that cancer cells would be seen as foreign in the body.

I agree Peter needed to listen more carefully and accept the research of the top mind in the field. Peter kept coming back to his own preconceived notions as if he thought he had nothing to learn despite clearly knowing next to nothing about the technicalities of the topic. Knowing a lot about some things doesNOT make you learned or fluent in others Peter.

Makes sense if you inject more frequently. Why? your body when healthy, makes T everyday and dumps it in your blood stream late night everyday. How there can be any other discussion explaining the opposite is mind boggling. Its like this people who are on dialysis and only get their blood cleaned 3 x times a week vs everyday when they where healthy.

Can these guys point to any evidence that the carnivore diet does not improve hyperinsulinimia? It is becoming evident that insulin related conditions are improved for carnivore diet individuals. We all know that proper insulin activity is healthier than the alternative. I think that is the topic needing discussion and research. Or how about we talk about bioavailability of nutrients in plants vs meat. Those topics could add tons of value to the understanding of living healthier lives.

My wife is a speech language pathologist who specializes in pediatric autism/ ADHD/ anxiety. One thing that was missing from this talk was what my wife refers to as a “disability lens” that is positive. It’s a point of view that these kids are unique and amazing. She has so many stories of getting past a kids anxiety or isolating symptoms, and eventually drawing these kids out, and watching them become their best. And frequently, these kids are void of cliche. They have qualities that neurotypical kids lack. Originality for one. As my wife says, these kids are fun! And hilarious. She still gets cards and letters from kids and families she’s worked with years ago. It’s incredibly difficult and rewarding work. I’m very proud of her.

This is a very helpful video. Im 40, looking into getting tested for it. Im also ADHD and find the medications while great for certain things, doesnt solve the motivation, laziness, libido, and energy problem. Ive always found it exceedingly difficult to lose weight, even when very active. It should be noted that treating ADHD has been an absolute life saver for me, and it feels like Im being greedy for wanting more. Ive always found my energy to be the limiting factor on absolutely everything. Want to help that guy stuck on the side of the road? Nah. Too tired, im sure someone else will. Want to play around with my daughter outside? Nah, its too much effort to get us both dressed, we can have fun here. Our brains constatly make excuses to not do what we want because its literally just too exhausting. Im convinced my hormones are part of the problem here, since tweaking neurotransmitters doesnt seem to do anything except making me ok with being tired. I'll find out whats up in about two weeks. Ill post an update. It really is encouraging to see the responses here. I know that the cost, and time commitment to learning, understanding and seeing doctors may feel intimidating (you know, the same part of our minds that fight effort), but treating my ADHD has taught me something: Its absolutely worth it and will more than pay for itself. The money and time ive spent paled in comparison with how much value, earnings and hapiness ive gained for treating ADHD, im hoping this will help my find the missing piece.

Muscle Mass and Strength: - Mixed results: Some studies suggest CR may preserve muscle mass and function, while others show a decrease. - Normalization to body weight: CR often leads to weight loss, and muscle mass and strength are often normalized to body weight in studies. This makes it difficult to directly compare CR groups to control groups. - Importance of maintaining lean body mass: Losing muscle mass along with fat is generally considered undesirable, as it can lead to functional decline and frailty. Immune System: - Compromised immune function: Some studies suggest CR may compromise the immune system, particularly in response to certain challenges like sepsis. - Importance of optimal nutrition: The negative effects on the immune system may be more pronounced when CR is not combined with adequate nutrient intake. - Need for further research: More research is needed to fully understand the effects of CR on the human immune system, especially in different age groups and health conditions. Other Considerations: - Individual variability: The effects of CR can vary greatly among individuals due to genetic and lifestyle factors. - Long-term effects: The long-term effects of CR on human health are still unknown, and more research is needed to determine if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. - Practical challenges: Adhering to a strict CR diet for extended periods can be difficult for most people.

Isn't ideal body composition the real goal for energy balance manipulation? If you're there why would you want continued energy deficit, ie: to lose more weight? Ideal body fat percent seems like a key question that never gets asked or answered. I've concluded that for a 60 year old male it's around 15% but I know of nothing conclusive showing this.

@jaymckoskey25
@jaymckoskey25 7 сағат бұрын
@@Hugues.L The location of subcutaneous fat isn't critical, as far as I can tell, but visceral fat is a big problem and that is located in the belly. If you've gotten a DEXA scan then it should tell you how much visceral fat you have. According to my DEXA print out 0.5 - 1 lb of visceral fat is fair and under 0.5 lb of visceral fat is excellent. If you haven't gotten a DEXA scan then you may find that your body fat % isn't necessarily what you expected. Mine was a rude awakening after having gotten body fat percentage estimates from a caliper and bio impedance.

All the powerlifters in the world, even a person who casually lifts, if you take them to a yoga class they’ll never experience many things tougher lol, im speaking from experience. Yoga is undervalued in today’s world if you ask me, calming to the mind (you don’t realize how stressed you were until AFTER finishing yoga) and challenging with high intensity and low impact. i was absolutely shocked i broke a sweat doing yoga just as much if not more than lifting. “Travis Eliot” is who i follow on KZbin

Always confused about diet. I went a lot of years on low fat and managed to put myself into early menopause and was definitely thin. However I was also remaining in caloric deficit in relation to expenditure. I probably ate 3 grams of carbs daily quite often, those three being in the organic oats I cooked. Fat is supposed to be healthy if it’s the correct fats. Then I listen here and it’s cut fats. Who knows

Carnivore, ha ha. Seriously is the most stupid diet i have seen in history. It is beyond embarrassing...nothing to be proud about wanting to tell the world. It will never be respected by the scientific community and anyone who understands science and data. Dunning - Kruger effect all over with all the influencers and even sadly some 'qualified' seemingly intelligent folk, but some of them are a can short of a six pack. Luckily all the carnivores live in a 'scientifically proven' and safe household, otherwise they would have been electrocuted a long time ago when trying to change their power supply or improve their lighting somehow...which didn't need changing..it is perfectly fine. Just like Mediterranean diet is perfectly fine and 'proven with science' over the long term. Why on god's Earth would you consider an unknown lifestyle that has never been achieved before including zero long term evidence? Did they go to a fortune teller and tell them that Carnivore diets will make them live to 140?

Garmin bases VO2 Max calculations on a run being a minimum of 10 mins with HR continuously above 70% of max HR. Anything below this is "penalised". To me, this clearly goes against the science. Having had Garmins for almost 20 years and thinking of buying a Fenix 8, this is something I want to understand better. Yesterday, after watching this, I did a 30 min Zone 2 run, with my zones calculated using HRR (Heart Rate Reserve) using well established references for resting and max HR. I kept my HR religiously within the Z2 boundaries and on synchronising, Garmin Connect changed my status to the dreaded Unproductive and lowered my VO2 Max, despite me having a solid regime of "Productive" run training at higher intensity. Does anyone have any knowledge of why Garmin apparently discounts Z2 training? I would be interested to know more. Cheers and thank you from Sydney - David
