Fascinating. So interesting to hear someone thats only known film up to this point talk about the shadow detail, the smoothness without grain, the color richness, and upsizing for prints. I've got a few old digital cameras, including the even older mikon D1, and beyond the wonky NTSC color space, black and white images on this old sensor really does hold up very well with film. You have to remember that 1080p is only 2.1 megapixels, and I've got a big 60" screen that looks good in that when you're at the appropriate distance. 4k is only 8 megapixels and you can pixel peep that a lot. Fascinating stuff. The lens truly matters a lot more than the camera you use.

This video is just priceless to watch in 2024 when the technology is so much better. One could feel the excitement about that new technology at the time, which relieves the photographer from his struggles so far and opens a window for new possibilities at one hand and better appreciate what we have in our days which is so much better and so much more affordable on the other. :) It is actually motivating. :)

Very nice bag that will allow you to carry quite a bit of equipment. I am NOT a fan of the plastic “D” rings or plastic shoulder strap attachment clips. It is a big camera bag, with a “box” type of shape. It does not conform to your body like the earlier Domke bags; f2, f1x, f3x, etc. Overall it is a very capable bag that many photographers will find quite useful.

Interesting that he says that the CMOS sensor produces more film-like images than CCD sensors. Nowadays, many photographers prefer the older CCD sensors for their filmic look.

There's a reason Canon got known for color science. It's down to the color dyes on the sensor more than the CCD or CMOS or even the D2h's JFET. Old cameras had some very good ones, the low light crazy lost quality and I think it's improved again since then, at least in many good cameras, but maybe not quite as good. There's complicity to it, but you can think about it like CRI for lights. A 70 CRI florescent will look odd, and that's comparable to cameras like sigma foveon, then there's ones in the 90's like very good quality florescent (or led) which look almost identical, this would be like a 5D or D700, and then there's 100, like incandescent or the sun, or our own eyes or a colorimetry sensor for calibrating monitors. For cameras it's called SMI and the one number doesn't discriminate between if it has bad skin tones or bad sky tone, for instance. But the higher you get, the less that can be wrong.

You know. For all the good and bad that people say about every camera from every manufacturer the average guy who overspend on these things rarely get the full potential from it. Just like MS Word. Every one that has a computer has MS Office and barely gets it's full potential yet complains about one little thing here and there. I bought a gently used EOS 5D Mk II. I'm a weekend warrior. I shoot photos within 75 miles of my home. It's an old ams dated camera. It's way more camera than I need. I have an Nikon FM2n fully manual film camera and its more camera than I need. I'll bet one out of 1000 owners of any given mirrorless or old DSLR uses it for how it was really made.

I believe the lens Mr. Karbe has in his hands is a third generation Summarit 35 or 50. The summarits are some of the most underappreciated line of lenses and so I was wondering why they chose these lenses to play with. Maybe it was because they look stunning with their complementary lens hoods. . .

M line is the prestige line cameras from Leica, but never forget first of the M8 Digital the first camera from Leica who turns Digital was the R8/9 whit the digital-modul R, but for Leica the R line doesn´t matter and their costumers. Shame in my opinion, the R8/9 whit the DMR was a amazing combination, even today produce amazing pictures, but completely ignored by Leica...So sad!

I can not understand why Leica never made one R camera whit autofocus like the SL system now. The last R cameras(R8 and R9) are amazing body´s whit great ergonomics only lack the autofocus for bring more photo market for Leica. I still not understand why Leica never treat the R system whit more respect...never!

I’m so glad that Leica hasn’t moved production to the Far East but kept it in Europe. It’s not that I don’t like the Far East but so many are following this trend but not Leica. I absolutely ADORE 🥰 Leica products. If you’ve ever owned a Leica lens (as I have) you’ll understand me. They are sublime and as perfect as humanly possible but have something that doesn’t come with technical perfection and that is “Character”

So they basically only insert the sensor and QC an M and can legally print "Made in Germany"?
@weissachpassion3 жыл бұрын
Haha. No. You only are seeing the assembly line and judging of that ?😅 They make everything in Wetzlar (this includes a lot of quality control)- but of course not the sensor... . The camera has a lot of mechanics due to its special focusing system. Also most of the M lenses are also made in Wetzlar. The rest in Portugal (in their own factory there) - however, there is no quality difference since they operate in Portugal for over 40 years now
