Got me beat. I think my Mk1 ended up being about 12 dollars worth of resin. I'm hoping to shave that down to under 10 with some better hollowing and thinning of parts tho. Awesome vid.

You can buy an airbrush kit from Harbor Freight for less than $100 as long as you keep it clean it will it will last you for years. Mine lasted for almost 15 years before I decided to upgrade to a new airbrush that was higher quality and could do better detail work, and close to 20 years later I am only now having to buy a new better compressor because mine finally wore out put that in perspective that vost is like $0.01 cents per day. In other words that's roughly one penny every 10 days it is incredibly inexpensive in the long run and you don't have to worry about ever melting foam projects again. The money you saved building that land rater can make it so that you never have to brush paint foam models again

Yeah, warping is going to be an issue. Maybe the cheapest way to try to fix it would be to glue these on top of two layers of cardboard layed crosswise to each other? I think Mel "The Terrain Tutor" suggest fighting the warping using PVA on the bottoms of bases. Also his book might mention that paint is not a good sealer. Anyhow this looks like an awesome way to get started or to do a setting you don't plan to stick with. Maybe to have your campaign travel from planet to planet or something.

Having to adjust to watch your video first because it was way too loud and then back to how it should have been in the first place resulted in me pausing to write this and leaving your channel 26 seconds in. I wanted a video on a DIY Land Raider Tank. You don't need need a ridiculous intro. All that did was throw your video volume way off kilter and drive me away when I was looking for a 40k channel that was more like Black Magic Craft than Miniac or Ninjon. I'm probably your target audience. The intro is why I am telling KZbin to not recommend the channel to me again.

Awesome stuff!! Def one of the best terrain pieces for adding to a beginner’s collection. I’d love to see a guide on how to make some pipe terrain, it’s a classic for any industrial type board. In the future it could be nice if you showed the finished product with some miniatures next to them as part of the showcase, to give a better idea of scale and what it’d look like during a game. Love your work, look forward to your next project!

I did this in 2004/5 using cereal box. It was a lot of fun. I completely painted it. I was gaming with some people and a guy kept staring at it and finally asked about it. I told him how I made it. He got upset, saying I couldn't use it. I looked at him and said I didn't care and this was the only land raider that was painted in the group.

@@idiotluggage that’s some real socially-inept behavior. I would celebrate the hell out of a homemade land raider if my opponent asked to use it. Absolutely yes put that thing on the table. I like to play against people’s lists and the pilot, not their wallet. Not everyone can afford every thing and let’s not let people’s paychecks gatekeep the army lists.

Great job! You can actually do that protective layer for the foam a bit cheaper, just dilute white/wood flue a bit and use two layers. That will lay down a thin coat of plastic the aerosol won't get through. This project actually gave me an idea, I've long wanted to do a version of a tank from the old Metal Slug arcade games.

In 2000 I decided I wanted a Land Raider, but there was no kit, not even a $90 kit (or whatever they cost). I did find a Leman Russ kit. I looked at it and looked at it...then I flipped it over on its back and made myself a Land Raider. A little plastic sheeting. A couple of wiring connections from the hardware store and boom...Land Raider for $30 bucks. Its was a little smaller than the official kit 10 years later, but I had it to play with for all that time. And no one asked what it was when I put it on the table...they just went "WOW...how can I get one???"
