I really appreciate Steve's performance here acting-wise. His intensity in the last chorus is very true to how it felt, feeling this way.

I love this song, but the lyrics are absolutely cringe-worthy. Steve needs a Bernie Taupin to write lyrics that complement his Elton John melody.

As a gay guy its nice to listen to someone talented who is also gay sing a song I can relate to and was afraid to say touches my heart. I have felt this way growing up and in the closet. Honestly I think most of the strait guys wished I would have been honest. They were friends.

The music and performance is great, but the lyrics and video are so traumatic and awful. I couldn't figure out at all what you are trying to say with this song. And then I read this comment below, which helped me understand what you might have been going for: @andrewprovidence5864 2019 (edited) Discipline is my favorite song from the album because the balance of dark and light combine with a religious theme. I appreciate the video shows the dark shadow within all us that we must face. I was hoping to see more religious themes in the music video. The song to me represents the struggle being gay and raised Catholic. I used to let mine inner darkness torture me until I learned to love and accept myself. I love the moment when the dark shadow stab itself but it was Steve who was bleeding. The dark shadow Steve offering him whiskey before he makes some bad decisions was too relatable like this last weekend relatable. ...
