Nice unit. What does it weigh? I see wheels on all 4 conversions & 2 handles. I was initially interested in a model like this made by Honda but I couldn’t find enough information on them. I went with an ultra quiet gasoline generator by Honda EU 7000is. I love mine.

i've compared silent type diesel generator and open type non-silent diesel generator and they are basically the same engine and coil wise... the only difference is the box which the silent type have. that's it... no special on the inside, nothing. you can just buy an open type diesel generator and make it silent yourself by making your own box or housing.

Some have brushed heads and some are brushless. Some have different control panels. Same engines though. The enclosed type has air ducting to keep the engine cool even though its insufficient.

Over 200 hours on it and still a solid machine! Just make sure to stabilize the fuel or better yet use non ethenol fuel. and drain the carb out when in long term storage. Still starts first pull.

I have an eagle diesel with same set up as Elim. When on 110 side voltage is low until you run something then it in jumps up to 100 volts. 110/240 shows no voltage. What could be wrong

If my generator has a capacitor instead of an AVR, is the capacitor also under the flywheel or is it external. Is there a quick way to know which one I have
@danbennett9394
@danbennett9394 9 ай бұрын
Hello, I just bought one of these but made by elim.i have a question about the 120 and 120/240 systems. Online there's a switch, you can either be on the 120 side with two 20 amp outlets and one 30 amp trailer style outlet or you switch to the 120/240 side 30 amp twist-lock outlet
@muddstuffn
@muddstuffn 9 ай бұрын
120 side runs all 120v outlets, the two 20 amp, and the twist lock 30 amp outlet. when you flip the switch it engergizes the 240v outlet only and denergizes all the 120v outlets.
@danbennett9394
@danbennett9394 9 ай бұрын
Yes that's right, but can I wire the panel so they both the 120 side and 120/240 side work at same time? Or would that damage something
@muddstuffn
@muddstuffn 9 ай бұрын
no because the Voltage regulator cannot regulate both voltages at the same time.@@danbennett9394

To start a Chinese air cooled diesel in winter, slowly pour hot water on the cylinder. Purity of oil and fuel is important. The 168F is a small 196 CC diesel with an angled cylinder built by at least two Chinese companies, with castings and parts differences. Ether is a big hazard to use. A goofy squirt will blow up like a grenade inside. The fit and castings are excellent. Loose motors should avoid high RPM but idle must be noticably above stall speed. You should avoid full power, when you see lots of smoke. This motor is about twice the size of a 168F. Don't use a dirty funnel for oil. 15W140 is universal. The crankcase will run way cold in winter. Augment a cabin with solar panels.

I got mine during Hurricane Sandy - And it still works. I love the damn thing. But. It did not arrive in working condition and the entire system had to be reworked. Also the entire thing is made of chineseium - they copied the Yanmar L100 and the copy is so good you can use stock parts on to the 178f or whatever they call it. But I keep a stash of spare parts because they do break but anyone can fit it. It has atleast 5000 hours. - And they sip fuel. My experience reflects yours exactly. - I added a glow plug to mine. I'm planning on reworking the control panel for digital control

I am very interested in why you disconnected the stop solenoid, as doing so would not only prevent the engine turning off on the key but remove the low oil pressure fail safe feature. I have two of these generators and both have suffered from the oil alert system shutting the engine down. The fault has always been a dry joint on the circuit board and re-soldering the components has cured the problem. I have searched for information on the net about the wiring of this circuit board but unable to find a diagram or explanation of how it works. I have attempted to draw out the circuit to find out myself and this is how I think it works. There are two relays each with a large capacitor across their coils. Switching on the ignition takes power through a normally closed relay contact and out to the stop solenoid. The oil pressure switch works in reverse compared to most vehicles. It is normally made with no oil pressure and open circuit with pressure. If the oil pressure fails the switch earths one side of a relay coil and the relay operates starting the shutdown procedure. This only happens when the engine is running because the coil only then has power from the 12 volt circuit that the generator is producing. The second relay operates via a "made" contact of the first, this lights the LED showing lack of oil pressure and prevents power getting to the stop solenoid. I hope this has made sense, if anyone knows how this circuit really works I would be grateful to hear as this theory is only my idea and could easily be wrong.

Note the gaps on the Torch and NGK CR7HS were way off as delivered. Per NGK, the CR7HS is supposed to be 0.028" (0.7mm) with a torque in an aluminum block of 7.2-8.7 lb. ft. There is no need for a fancy plug in this low compression engine which runs at just 4850 RPM.

After 5 hours of break-in with 10W-40 mineral (not synthetic) oil, and alternating 1500 and 3000 watt loads with cooldown cycles, the oil has been changed 5 times and cleared up nicely. Tiny bit of steel from the rings and bearings on the magnetic plug. Overall positive impression so far. I checked the compression using a Honda dirt bike procedure and was surprised it is only 30 psi. Maybe this is to be expected for a low-rpm pull start. Anybody else checked their compression?

I just picked up one of these - a non running "Nigata 5" "Silent Generator". It's certainly silent when it's not running LOL. $500 Canadian was a bit too much but I paid it anyway. The only problem with it I can see is that the gasket in the fuel pump was chewed up and needed replacing. Looking forward to getting it running this weekend, fingers crossed. There's something to be said for simple mechanical diesel engines. My sailboat's inboard is a 1 cyl German Farymann diesel, my Tractor is a 3 cyl British Perkins diesel, now my generator is a 1 cyl Chinese-stolen Japanese Yanmar diesel. They just work, and when they don't, they're easy to fix.

Don, I sold my Champion 3500 today - tooooo HEAVY and purchased this generator today through Walmart. A couple of video requests from you: 1. Go through the process / steps you did to INSTALL the hour meter. 2. When would you recommend doing the first / second oil changes (break in period) versus waiting until the 50 hour mark? I too bought the “magnetic” dip stick you recommended. I had one for my Champion and it definitely picked up metal-fragments. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.

@@joejohnson2478 It takes right about 14.5 US Fluid Ounces. In hot conditions 10W-40 synthetic is probably good once the generator has broken in for a few hours (conventional mineral oil is usually recommended for break-in). Different weights are shown at various places in the documentation and on the labels.

Thing qbout engine rpm is qnd longevity it the balance of the engine qt a rated rpm. A faster spinning engine will last just as long if its balanced to run at that rpm. If you run a engine slower than its designed run rpm it will shake the bearings out of it.
