Great video dude! This one and the previous. There is almost zero information about these small inexpensive generators. And you showed very important tips on faqs. Thanks a lot!

Hey, glad I found your video, Lots of good information! I have a Tahoe diesel TPI 7000 LXH diesel generator which is the exact same as the one in your video except the control panel is set up a little different, except for that it is exactly the same. This one may be a little newer model. It has a digital display on the control panel. But so far I have not been able to find any information on these generators whatsoever. Lots of start up videos but that’s all no audio, no explanation. So far mine runs and starts well. The only problem I have with it is the fuel gauge does not read. I figure I will have to dig into it and replace that in the near future. But it looks like a lot of things have to come off to get to it. Not looking forward to that! Also mine has the Koop engine.

Glad i could help. Thats exactly why i made these couple videos because there is not much info on these units and what is out there you have to dig for. And what you do find is normally foreign based and hard to understand. Normally the fuel gauge get stuck. if you can reach in and move the float lever up and down some it will unsieze it. They usually rust up if stored a long period with little to no fuel in the tank.

I am very interested in why you disconnected the stop solenoid, as doing so would not only prevent the engine turning off on the key but remove the low oil pressure fail safe feature. I have two of these generators and both have suffered from the oil alert system shutting the engine down. The fault has always been a dry joint on the circuit board and re-soldering the components has cured the problem. I have searched for information on the net about the wiring of this circuit board but unable to find a diagram or explanation of how it works. I have attempted to draw out the circuit to find out myself and this is how I think it works. There are two relays each with a large capacitor across their coils. Switching on the ignition takes power through a normally closed relay contact and out to the stop solenoid. The oil pressure switch works in reverse compared to most vehicles. It is normally made with no oil pressure and open circuit with pressure. If the oil pressure fails the switch earths one side of a relay coil and the relay operates starting the shutdown procedure. This only happens when the engine is running because the coil only then has power from the 12 volt circuit that the generator is producing. The second relay operates via a "made" contact of the first, this lights the LED showing lack of oil pressure and prevents power getting to the stop solenoid. I hope this has made sense, if anyone knows how this circuit really works I would be grateful to hear as this theory is only my idea and could easily be wrong.

Hey, thanks so much for this video and the previous one - lots of great info. I have a Mortox 6700T Silent Diesel genset - basically exactly the same as yours, but with a yellow cover and some slight differences in the control panel, etc. Starts and runs like a top, never had a problem with it, great little machine! I also have a small solar panel and charge controller to keep the battery topped up - it does tend to go dead after sitting for a while a while, the previous owner warned me about that, and your comments confirm that issue, and its solution. The only issue I notice with my machine is a slight regular fluctuation in the AC power - like a sort of visible strobing or shimmering vibration, if there is a light bulb on the circuit, etc. Would this potentially be a capacitor issue?

Did you install the pull start or did it come with it? If you did install where did you get it? I am thinking of installing one on mine.

If my generator has a capacitor instead of an AVR, is the capacitor also under the flywheel or is it external. Is there a quick way to know which one I have

I have an eagle diesel with same set up as Elim. When on 110 side voltage is low until you run something then it in jumps up to 100 volts. 110/240 shows no voltage. What could be wrong
@danbennett939410 ай бұрын
Hello, I just bought one of these but made by elim.i have a question about the 120 and 120/240 systems. Online there's a switch, you can either be on the 120 side with two 20 amp outlets and one 30 amp trailer style outlet or you switch to the 120/240 side 30 amp twist-lock outlet
@muddstuffn10 ай бұрын
120 side runs all 120v outlets, the two 20 amp, and the twist lock 30 amp outlet. when you flip the switch it engergizes the 240v outlet only and denergizes all the 120v outlets.
@danbennett939410 ай бұрын
Yes that's right, but can I wire the panel so they both the 120 side and 120/240 side work at same time? Or would that damage something
@muddstuffn10 ай бұрын
no because the Voltage regulator cannot regulate both voltages at the same time.@@danbennett9394

Great video.Can you tell me where you purchased that spin on fuel filter? Also it looks like from what I can see that the fuel guage float was removed. In the parts page on my manual I have it shows 2 screws at the sight glass on top. I dont have 2 screws on mine.
@muddstuffn2 жыл бұрын
If you removed the outer shell the fuel tank bolts to the shell. Seperate the fuel tank from the outer shell and there will be 2 screws to remove the fuel level gauge. The spin on filter i ordered off Amazon. its just a generic fuel water seperator. should be easy to find.

@@muddstuffn yes I figured out how to get the tank out. After taking the cover off, I noticed on top of the cylinder there is a pressure release handle. Why? And why would there be no access to it on the cover?
@muddstuffn2 жыл бұрын
@@vinnyf6635 Some other brands have a hatch that you can flip up and gain access to the compression release lever. For some reason on mine and yours they didnt provide access to this. I was going to make my own access port but after starting this unit in fridged temps with a good battery it starts fine without a compression release so i wont be doing this modification.

Your control panel has a circuit board, which I think you mentioned handles voltage regulation! My unit is very different! Looks like I will have to take the muffler off to see what is inside. AVR / CAP etc. No Information, No Schematics, different configurations .... these units are not very professionally designed for repair!
@juliogonzo27182 жыл бұрын
Does it produce voltage with no load? The one I bought maybe makes 20v until you load it and then it works. I'm thinking it's the capacitor so I ordered one but it is cracked anyway so need a new one regardless.

Mine produces 120/240 volts under no load conditions. I think your headed in the right direction, capacitor is more than likely faulty.

More than likely a bad capacitor. Its normally mounted behind the muffler.

i've compared silent type diesel generator and open type non-silent diesel generator and they are basically the same engine and coil wise... the only difference is the box which the silent type have. that's it... no special on the inside, nothing. you can just buy an open type diesel generator and make it silent yourself by making your own box or housing.

Some have brushed heads and some are brushless. Some have different control panels. Same engines though. The enclosed type has air ducting to keep the engine cool even though its insufficient.

You recommend ether for cold starts?
@muddstuffn2 жыл бұрын
It has no other starting aids other than a compression release so yes Ether is a useable cold start aid. In my experience with a fully charged battery, my unit has started just fine without any starting aid in below freezing temps.
