Thx, Richie! Those blue hand augers drove me crazy! I need to get down the Cape, but not enough time right now. Hope this cold weather holds on a bit longer for the Cape ice.

Love fishing a chatterbait, too - but my favorite way to fish them is ripping them out of weeds!

Do you think they would bite the spoon with no worm?
@JonP.Fishing
@JonP.Fishing 7 күн бұрын
Good question. If they're super fired up, you don't need any bait. But most of the time, bait (or scent) definitely helps. There's a few lures that I fish w/o bait....plastics, berkley vibrato, UL rippin' raps, etc....stuff like that. But I usually lather them up w/ some scent. So, 1 way or another, a little extra scented something on there will get you a few more bites.

Good luck! If you mess up, just cut the thread & start again - no problem. Also, give the rod plenty of time to spin (& dry) in between coats of epoxy. Might take longer than the weekend, but that's mostly just drying time (not active work time).

That inline is useless! Few probs. w/ the fishing 13 Free falls. Does the Piscifin have a window for line pass thru? I had a frabill inline would do the same line tangle
@JonP.Fishing
@JonP.Fishing Ай бұрын
Yes, the Piscifun was a rectangular window for the line to pass thru. I think I will stick w/ spinning reels for this season.

Don’t reel it towards you. Never heard that
@JonP.Fishing
@JonP.Fishing Ай бұрын
Yup, use the rod to hit the slack. You want them to go from dead still to hard slashes. If you start reeling up the slack, they'll swim at you (not slash + dart). It's the dramatic directional changes that triggers bass to bite (even in cold water).

We were all fishing down the cape a couple years ago and they were Rising nonstop for over 4 hours. My buddy changed to a fly rod just for a few and after an hour he finally caught one most beautiful brook trout I ever seen. Had white fins on the bottom and colors like I'd never seen.
