you could have used a torch or heat gun to heat up the plastic and it would come up super easy, no need of cutting anything...

i heard silicone compromises it over time though....?
@ewaldsreef Жыл бұрын
This is a great comment. It does however this how your glass aquariums are put together. Eventually your aquarium will leak and need to be rebuilt or replaced. These seals should last about the same amount of time. Also the silicone is designed to prevent the bulkhead from moving and creat a secondary level of protection. The primary deal is the gasket provided with the bulkhead.

Do your leave paste in tank or take it out later??
@ewaldsreef Жыл бұрын
I will typically leave it in. It will break down over time. If you choose to manually remove it I recommend using a siphon so none of the flakes get on your coral.
@teddychung8959 Жыл бұрын
@@ewaldsreef supposedly it’s supposed to increase my alk but I haven’t noticed that at all. In fact my alk was going down still from my corals using it up. So I started dosing my alk again.

Nah. melamine sponge is WAY better for acrylic. Especially the really tough stuff that would normally require a razor if it was on glass. They sell them on Amazon. 30 of them for M them $10, or 100 for $20! Seriously a game changer and my acrylic has never looked so amazing. Especially if you have saltwater this Is the way to go.

What is it called again and where can I purchase one?
i just used my new ram bit 1.5" on ABS yesterday but it didn't cut nearly as smooth... it kinds burned more and left a rough surface for the first 3/8" . it was for a sink drain and I used it and no leaks but i would have had to cut it out if a pressure line. how stupid it is just a stamped out metal cutter edge... maybe I will file it sharper.. maybe it would work better on PVC. not a super fan of the cheapest cost of manufacturing winning over function.
@ewaldsreef2 жыл бұрын
I have honestly never tried on abs. Thank you for sharing your experience with this. I may play around with it myself.
@elkskiutah82042 жыл бұрын
@@ewaldsreef how sharp is your cutting edge? I'm thinking maybe an earlier version was better ( as happens many times due to cost cutting ) maybe an extra sharpening step after stamping has been removed. I used slower speed
@ewaldsreef2 жыл бұрын
I have used them many times . There are a few different brands but none of them seem that sharp. The PVC is a different material so probably cuts easier.

Forgot how much water the PSK 1000 moves compared to other DC pumps. Have compared some major skimmers and when I installed the PSK 1000 to replace their pump. The skimmer could not handle the flow on those skimmer it was so much less but claimed rated more than the reefer 600. I think not after the comparisons. The PSK 1000 is a brute and skims at that high rate on top of that.
