How does Dirty mode handle chords or slide?
@PepeMusic
@PepeMusic 5 күн бұрын
Chords aren't possible in the Dirty mode. It works like an analogue octaver this way, that means: completely monophonic. Bending single notes are no problem. I haven't used it with a bottleneck if that is what you mean with "slide".
@SharpsBox
@SharpsBox 4 күн бұрын
@@PepeMusic yes bottleneck.

@@PepeMusic One string slide possible? What would happen with multiple strings sliding at once?
@PepeMusic
@PepeMusic 4 күн бұрын
It is the same with chords: a monophonic octaver (also the digital OCTA) is not going to detect several notes at once properly. Then it can either be silent, or it produces a stuttering sound that jumps between the detected values. In most cases it doesn't sound great or cool. So single notes are the only way in Dirty mode. The only octaver pedals that I tried that properly handle more sounds at once are the BOSS OC-3 and OC-5. These are digital as well; sound-wise I prefer the OC-3 for its punchy sound (the OC-5 reproduces the rather weak sound of the old monophonic OC-2). In any way those two models have very fast tracking and they produce real octaves (they aren't pitch shifters as the OCTA in Dirty Off mode). I hope that helps a bit.

@@PepeMusic Thanks for the feedback, I had hoped that maybe the mono tracking produced interesting/good glitch sounds. Thanks for saving me $30!

I find the chorus tone on the FLG-1 better than the CHR-1, specially for rotary. Pair it with a nice, slightly modulated clean delay and the tone is amazing, maybe even better in a parallel wet/dry setup.

Thanks a lot. This is a great video. It helps to work on my Lambda, which I own since 1983. It needs cleaning and I need to find out why the 3rd oscillator is out of tune and it isn't adjustable anymore. From the schematics, it is probably directly behind the panel (hopefully. Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt). Thanks for motivating me to work on it.

Would you say this is similar to the Memory Loss?
@PepeMusic
@PepeMusic 3 ай бұрын
Well, both pedals are based on the Princeton PT2399 delay chip and both can produce those great lo-fi echoes. But the Memory Loss has that special way of crumbling together at high signal peaks whereas the Loome can change the pitch. In my other Seppuku FX demo videos you can find one of a unique one-off Memory Loss/Kompakt Kassette pedal that I have had here for repair/inspection a few years ago.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I just found my notes for this pedal demo video. The examples #5 and #6 were made with my Stratocaster's bridge pickup. I don't have the MD-2 anymore, so I cannot supply demo sounds with a bridge humbucker.

Exactly! That's why I supply the pure signal without the tube amp and without the ambience effects* on my website (as you can read in the video information text): pepemusic.de/pedal_demos.htm *the super-subtle stereo chorus, short and subtle stereo delay and a bit of reverb are solely there to make the sound more spacious.

Is it possible to use this pedal in a Yamaha System Board , SB40 for instance ?
@PepeMusic
@PepeMusic 8 ай бұрын
I doubt that it is possible. The Yamaha pedals have this certain multi-connector on the back which the KORG pedals don't have. Apart from that the pedals are overall the same. I had four of the Yamaha versions and the KORG pedals sound exactly the same to my ears.

thanks for all those amazing videos my friend! i have this exact same chorus pedal and im experiencing a lot of noise, kinda like a chirp. would you happen to know anything about that noise??
@PepeMusic
@PepeMusic 9 ай бұрын
Sorry, I'm not a tech expert. If I were you I would replace all the electrolytic capacitors. That's something that has cured the noise in over 50% of my faulty sounding effects pedals. The very first thing to do is trying the pedal with a fresh battery or isolated power supply. My Marshall SV-1 Supervibe doesn't like any power supply (for whatever reason) and this one creates a chirping sound, similar to what you describe. I always have to power it with a battery. I have had three or four KORG CHR-1 units and they all had no problems with a power supply - they also didn't do that chirping sound. Another reason for the unwanted sound might be a wrong calibration of the trimpots. Someone has uploaded the service manual of this effects series here, so you have the proper infrmation at hand what the trimpots do: de.scribd.com/document/369022151/Korg-Guitar-Effects-Service-Manual Good luck!
