28mm is 1/64. The math is based on the average male human height of 1800mm. 1800mm / 64 scale, is 28mm. 1/56 = 32mm 1/64 = 28mm 1/72 = 25mm 1/76 = 24mm 1/87 = 21mm The market place likes to create and conflate scales based on a more algorithmic approach for "average height " using a range of averages heights. This is the pretext for including 28mm, with 1/56 and 1/48. The reason 20mm covers 3 scales. Some people do go for larger vehicle scales to offset basing of minis. Personally I do my best to go all 1/72. There are good metal manufacturers that make 1/72 minis too. Then there is 3D printing. The hi res resin printer with new resin formulas are making much more durable products. Future is bright unless only a very small percentage have any disposable income in the future.

To clean the flashing I use a pin, embedded in putty, heated with a propane flame. The propane flame is sootless. Then run that alo g the flash. Usually still need a knife. To seal the base colors on the minis, and for me, my base washes, I use aryclic floor sealer. It creates a strong, somewhat flexible, coating, that allows for an oil wash, if you like. I also use WWS layering glue on any pointy bits for added strength, before brushed on matte finish. Allow at least 24 hrs for the layering glue to fully cure before any lacquer finish.

For reviewing the entire line, including zombies, go to Plastic Soldier Review, all one word, dot comm. Also, if memory serves 1 72 depot dot comm. 1/72 is mathematically from bottom of foot to top of head is 25mm. It is called 20mm in the market and conflates 20mm, 1/87, 1/76, 1/72, and 25mm into a group. There are ancients to modern to super natural to samurai to medieval to fantasy available in 1/72 (20mm) scale. HO scale (1/87) Rail road trees and bushes work well. For hard terrain there are some building kits, else 3D printing or MDF. I wargame WW2 and Vietnam all in 1/72.

These guys used to be called "Caesar Miniatures" and they sold mostly military wargaming miniatures. However, they had a small fantasy line and you could get like forty goblins or dwarfs or whatever for like fifteen dollars. Shit was awesome.

for their price, this minis are very good. and you can use them just fine for fantasy tabletops, like warhammer. if all players use this minis! playing warhammer with scaled down minis can be very fun. and since all of them are so cheap, building an army is easy. you only need to make some bases for the units, to move them more comfortably.

i have taken a look into their whole range. half of their minis are "inspired" by lord of the rings. the other half is inspired by ancient mythologie. they look good so far. i can see them beeing used in a hyborian age themed game. maybe i will get a few boxes to take a look at them.

I've been a fan of 1:72 ever since I bought my 2 whole WOTR armies for like 40EUR. Too bad that Dark Alliance is pretty much the only 1:72 fantasy manufacturer that are easily available for me. There's nothing wrong with them, I love them, but I just wish there were more :) The beauty of 1:72 boxes is that you can get pretty much a whole skirmish game by buying one box of infantry and one box of cavalry for both sides.

Hey I know this manufacturer, they're INCREDIBLY eclectic. I knew them from their historical catalogue and recently discovered that ancient and Napoleonic sets that to my knowledge, no other manufacturer would do, were only the tip of the iceberg. They may not be of the best quality out there and as you mentioned the sprews are very thick and hard to cut through but still interesting to get if you're looking for rare factions/units for affordable price.

Sure you could find some at victrix/perry minis/wargames atlantic/gripping beast/fireforge or more fantasy like northstar or if you want them really cheap em4 miniatures. Internet friend have made agoblin war band from the orcs, but have not seen them in real life, how do they scale with the hero quest goblins?

I've used this sort of figure before (WW2 and Ancient Romans/Celts). These sorts of figures tend to be cheaper and have good detail for their size. One down side to consider is that the paint tends to flake off them more easily than it would on hard plastic or metal. Wash them before you start (like you would with a resin piece) but even then they'll be prone to paint damage-So be careful with them if you paint them.

Honestly I'd consider getting some boxes of these and re-basing them as D&D miniatures. Easier to justify the scale since they could be the only thing at the time, and they have a lot of standard fantasy races and monsters in the line. I'd probably have four times what I'd need, but still might be a good deal.

This plastic looks quite soft and it will probably be very difficult to remove the mould lines. If you want to paint your miniatures, definitely go for a better quality miniature. However, if you don’t like painting miniatures, they should work just fine. Don’t forget the cardboard option, though. You can get beautiful cardboard standees for a lower price. They are easier to store as well. So, my suggestion is to either go for decent quality plastic miniatures and paint them or choose well made cardboard standees. Just my five cents. Good luck!

@@agentbrown5542 People have indeed been painting soft plastic minis for decades, but the miniature market is very different today from how it was decades ago. Maybe I should change my statement to this: ”… you might want to try some generic hard plastic minis and see how you like them.” You can absolutely work with soft plastic minis and even for example use regular artist’s acrylic paint, but this will present a bigger challenge for beginner painters. Soft plastic is not bad, it’s just more of a challenge to prepare for painting. Also, if you don’t intend to paint the minis, and you prefer unpained minis to high quality cardboard standees, soft plastic is a great option
