Love OW! They stay true to the 1st edition MM depictions. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business as of January this year.

I ordered these sometime in March or April and got them directly from the website, which I think I linked. It is still active.

Otherworld makes some awesome stuff. Really captures the grounded fantasy vibe that many of us want in our games. I know I'm not alone in my distaste for a lot of the modern fantasy sculpts. They tend to be too over the top and busy. I'd also recommend checking out Hassle Free Miniatures, Old School Miniatures and some of the smaller companies producing historical stuff like Footsore Miniatures if this aesthetic appeals to you.

Having bought a lot of Otherworld miniatures, I really love them for that old school feeling. They are however not in the same scale as most modern minis, so you might want to keep that in mind when adding to your games.

Otherworld Miniatures is an awesome company, many of their sculpts are by Paul Muller. I have the full line of their Dark Tower miniatures, I have to start painting them soon.

Great haul and review! Definitely something to look into as alternative miniatures for your tabletop game! And as always, thank you for another great video! 👍

I know nothing of heroquest, I’m new to minis, your video has me wanting to learn more about HQ! So far I have played Five Parsecs from Home(solo sci-fi) and have Five Leagues from the borderlands (solo fantasy) waiting while I build up my mini collection! Focusing on Mordheim warbands currently! I’m definitly going to check this line out!!

I have never played HeroQuest. I am interested in how you integrate these modifications in the game. For example, do you create new stat blocks or encounters? I play D&D and paint a ton of miniatures. I literally probably have close to 500 minis, not all painted by me though. So, naturally I am interested in any way I can use them.

Precisely that; each monster in HQ has a simple set of attributes that you could equate to a stat block, and the reference for them is on their associated card. These attributes are movement (in squares), attack dice, defense dice, body points and mind points. Some monsters have additional abilities beyond simply moving and attacking orthogonally, and these special attacks or abilities will be noted on their card as well, such as "may fire Crossbow at any target it can see with 2 attack dice" or "knows the dread spell Fear" or "may attack diagonally." The monsters in the most recent HQ expansion, Jungles of Delthrak, have an additional attribute called Traits. These are passive abilities such as "Agile" (may move through hindering terrain and over obstacles without taking any penalties, basically), but mechanically these are just shorthand ways of referring to what monsters of this type may do. They're simple, and perhaps because of that, fun to make.
