Of all the videos I’ve watched for this dress, yours is the PERFECT fit. I had decided not to make this dress because of how it just didn’t fit under the arms (low, gaping) and how the bodice didn’t fit well on most of the creators. But your make made me reconsider. Great job! PS: I would totally wear this on a calm, non-windy sunny day. It’s adorable. It’s inspired me to use a very fun material.

It’s gorgeous! ❤ When JoAnne’s had a big yarn sale not too long ago I bought a bunch of yarn that I knew was destined for something great. This is it. 😁

You did a fantastic job!!! Wow your second garment ever and you altered the pattern to fit and did a mock up and then sewed the dress before you ate lunch!! You are GREAT!! Keep sewing, I think you're a natural. I enjoyed watching both part 1 and 2! Oh and you're not short you're 5"1' and so am I hahahaha.

🤯OMG! That's gorgeous! I would Never have thought of making a cape. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I know exactly where you wedding photos were taken. I live not too far from there and have been there several times. I love it. That whole area is Gorge-eous. Contratulations.

Incredible! Hiking in the rain wasn’t exactly a dream, but the photos and memories were worth it 😆 it is definitely gorge-eous!

I was impressed with the color and pattern of your mock up. It really dressed it up and looked expensive.

It was just regular quilting cotton, but definitely spruces up the mockup process 😄

Best temperature blanket video ever! I too love spreadsheets, crochet, and your supervisor too. Curious as to how close you came to a complete stash bust?
@TheMayu11 ай бұрын
Pretty close! I de-stashed about 90% of the yarn - of course I’ve already filled that void since last year 😂

Nice job! I've seen a few of these walkaway dresses done but I like yours the best. BTW, you're way too young to have a Chemex! And I see another used as a flower vase. Where did you get them?

Chemex is the best! Both of them were gifts, but I’m sure you can find them online

I have to wonder if the issues you had with the back was a side effect of it originally being for a slightly taller person, since you commented the skirt was longer than you needed, and the taking out length needed to be more universal. But it does turn out pretty once you got it adjusted. Loved your little helper... mine is still not sure what she thinks of me not paying all the attention to her.

I have a suggestion for you, you can buy a needle wand at Joann's or other fabric stores or establishments similar. I own two. They're nice to have. Let me tell you, I live in an apartment with wall to wall carpeting. When you have been sewing for as long as I have, you might be dropping a lot of pins without ever realizing it. A magnetic wand would surely come in real handy. Good luck 🤞😊.

Awesome work :) I wear shorts under any dress I wear, to avoid any flashing haha.
@makerjanedesigns6405 Жыл бұрын
I’m impressed with your determination and your work. Just a friendly thought, it’s really not a good habit to sew over pins. It’s a risk that the needle can hit the pin and break not only the needle but your machine can be damaged or the needle fragments can hit your eye. Please stay safe and enjoy your sewing journey.

I found your walkaway dress video first. Great video by the way and this video was good too. But, you forgot to mention, will you wear this Vogue dress out in public, and, knowing what you know now, would you make it again? Would love to hear your opinions. Great videos!

Yes! I have worn this dress multiple times outside and will definitely make this one again as I get better with sewing

"My second garment"... Gurl... instant sub from me! My first machine is currently fit for snapping needles, my grandmothers old machine is missing various parts that are needed for a functional machine, and I'm trying to justify buying a new one, needless to say my finished pieces reflect my consistent abilty to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I love sewing it's a shame I'm so bad at it! edit to add that finding the needle is easier if aquire a magnet and sweep the floor & work surfaces! Also washable markers are a genuis idea!

How much pressure do you use while cutting everyday poly/cotton blends? I REALIZE extra force for denim, leather or several layers. My fingers cramp when cutting out several pieces of pattern/ material; so a cutting wheel will help with the grip strain. Even on freshly cut, oiled and fabric ONLY scissors make cutting out large patterns a few day job! I even bought electric scissors, but the vibration made my hand numb. Thank you for the feedback!
@TheMayu11 ай бұрын
I use a moderate amount of downward pressure with the rotary cutter, especially on straight lines - but compared to scissors it’s definitely less strain on my fingers with a rotary blade. I’ve seen people use an ergonomic rotary cutter but haven’t used one personally - I hope you find something that works!

My 40 year old Pfaff has died. I need a trustworthy sewing machine, which has automatic tension settings, auto bobbin fill, but only straight, zigzag and EASY Buttonholes. How hard will that be to find? I want a durable machine which will work 10 to 15 hours per week. No embroidery please. What do you advise? I'm willing to buy a good machine if lessons on its use are included. Not just a salesperson making commission, but another sewer that will show me everything I need to know, tips & tricks and be there for help and hopefully few repairs.

Thanks for the post. I have to say, of all the versions I've seen, yours fits the best. Just an FYI.....women in the 50's wore a lot of undergarments. Girdles, slips and pantyhose. They wouldn't have felt a draft.
