When I read the manga, I was like "Wow, this can't get any better! (Except for the moments in the book where Link looks a bit... off.)" Then I read Ocarina, and I was blown away.

WW is such an underrated Zelda game. The majority of the games is the typical "save the princess" schick, but WW not only switches it up [at least for the first half of the game] with having to save your sister instead but it makes your journey personal, cause now Ganon messed with Link's family. And while the dungeons were pretty easy, they were all fun to go through. Plus the OST slapped

Maybe he has been training his whole life, we don’t see very much of his life before the events of this game, so maybe he has been practicing with Orca for a long time which gave him the skills we see in the game. Great video

I think new players would love donkey Kong 64 as long as they don't go in trying to 100% it. And then if they play it and beat it and love it, then they can decide to 100% it to get the most out of it.

I think DK64 is a good game. However, I get the hate. It's very similar to Banjo Kazooie. I bought it on relese and felt like I was playing a successor to Banjo. Even the soundtrack sounds like Banjo and it is inferior to the SNES soundtrack. The music in the SNES games still hold up today, they are very well composed. In short, I was expecting Donkey Kong Country 4, a speedrunning type platforming experience. But I got another slow placed Banjo.

Honestly, you’re right about it the DK arcade game. Having one life to get through every level is brutal. It is a very difficult game for a child. I remember my brother and I begged our dad to try after we found out the coin was there.

Addressing the most common criticisms: 1. Too many collectibles and too tedious to get with each Kong It’s a collectible platformer. That’s the subgenre this game belongs to. Yes, to get them all it is a bigger hassle than most games like it. However, you also shouldn’t be able to 100% a game without having to go out of your way. That’s part of what makes 100% the achievement it is. As for it being tedious with each Kong. It really isn’t if your goal is to simply beat the game. You could spend ten minutes in each level and collect enough bananas to get to the boss. Even when it gets more spread out like in Fungi Forest, there is an area where you can collect almost every banana for Chunky, Trixie, and Donkey. 2. Reused bosses This to me is a legitimate criticism. I cannot argue against it. It comes off lazy and it would’ve been nice to see more bosses. However, the bosses we got were fun for the most part and a few were particularly memorable. 3. Mini games/races There is some legitimate criticism here as games like Beaver Bother seemed programmed to absolutely screw you over. But again, most of these games and races are a lot of fun. Besides that, the games are 60 seconds and you can retry immediately. You aren’t getting punished for losing. Just hop back in the barrel and try again. Furthermore, you don’t even have to do the bulk of these games and races to beat the game. 4. Expansion Pack Yeah this is one that was total bs. Definitely valid criticism. Overall, the vast majority of criticism comes from the perspective of someone trying to 100% the game. And yeah from that perspective, the game becomes mundane. But honestly, I find that to be the case for every game I’ve ever 100% with very few exceptions. This game also is nowhere near as tedious as many games I have completed, especially modern ones that require multiplayer. The game remains entertaining for the duration of a normal playthrough and there’s plenty of reason to come back to it. Whether it’s to explore, play arcade games, mini games, races, whatever. You don’t have to collect everything and these types of games are more fun when collecting things is a byproduct of exploration and not an actual goal. Finally, this game may borrow a lot from Banjo-Kazooie, but it’s not that game. This is a Donkey Game with Donkey Kong characters. It’s not as whimsical or vibrantly colorful because that’s not the world of DK country. In my opinion, this game did a great job of bringing the atmosphere of that series to the 64 bit generation. It is one of the best Donkey Kong games ever released and to be overshadowed by a game that had its own well deserved critical and commercial success is unfair. Both are great games where one simply did a better job with the engine, had a different sense of humor, and was more friendly to completionists. Aside from its technical problems, it’s really a matter of personal preference and to be honest, I prefer this game over Banjo any day.

I never cared about what the haters had to say. They kept telling me that the graphics were too cartoony. But that is all they had against it. I loved the legend of Zelda on the 64 so I wanted it on the GameCube. I ignored them and I'm glad I did. Just play games you are interested in. Don't let people deter you from it.
