Can you tell me how much time/effort you spend on clean up after cutting your design on the CNC? I noticed that with the VCarve, my lines are sharp, but the interior (where the router cuts) is mostly fuzzy, especially with thinner, smaller areas. I have to clean it up with sandpaper and a brush. End mill cuts are fine. I only experience the fuzziness with a v-bit. I’m wondering if this is normal or if I’m doing something wrong.

Is there ever a way to edit the toolpath pattern so that it moves in parallel lines rather than always following the perimeter? I'd think the final sanding out would be easier with less crossgrained toolpaths.

I’m still having some issues with the VCarve. I used the same settings as you did in the video but my text is coming out very jagged and not sharp. Any ideas? Thank you!
@aetimberpineАй бұрын
@@pfchao98 hey Paul, Check that the vbit is the correct size in the program. Also try a different font and take a look at the simulations. Not all fonts look good when v carving (in my opinion) Also double check and make sure you have selected stock bottom for your max depth.

@@aetimberpine I was actually able to get it fixed after a few test cuts. It turns out my y-axis belt was a little loose. I added tension to it and that fixed my issue. When you do the inlay do you make the pocket (on the female portion) a couple of thousandths bigger than the male/plug portion?? Or do you just leave them both (male & female the same size?? Oh & great video BTW 💯 🎯! Also the X-fasten tape is great for exactly how you used it. I hate using if I have to cut through the entire size stock. I prefer to just use the tabs, though I’ve had a couple of projects where that wasn’t beneficial to do. Anyways I’m looking forward to trying my hand at some inlays!

How do you program this remote to work with the machine is what I want to know?! And on top of that how do you get the jog speed with it too?! Basically how do you program the dang thing?? LoL 😂 🤔 🤷♂️
@aetimberpine2 ай бұрын
@@PiercesPerfectPieces haha hey pierces. The remote is basically a remote keyboard. So you’re programming the remote to replicate your computer keyboard. So just as you would use your computer keyboard buttons to move the machine you’re just bypassing the computer itself and using the remote. I use the previous model that requires a USB to create the link but the new ones are Bluetooth.

It definitely did not work for me. I'm not sure why. I watched your other video on adding a surfacing bit. Got the bit added, no problem. I followed your instructions on this video and it essentially burned the wood in the path it was going, then the router jammed. Not sure if my bit sucks or if I did something wrong. I've got a 2" surface planing bit, feed rate 100, cut depth .05 in, RPM 18,000, stepover 1.0. When I went to add the bit, it wouldn't let me edit the number of flutes or flute length. It just automatically lists them as 2 flutes at .5 inches. My bit has 4 flutes. I'm running Carbite create 7 (build 743 - Was unable to download build 777 or 778)

You have some really great videos that I've found super helpful. I set depth of cut to material thickness when doing lettering signs. They carve well, but I am finding that I get a ton of "fuzzies" in the letters when cutting through oramask. This is hard to clean up and affects the painting process. Any thoughts on how to prevent this? Finishing pass?

What size are those stars?
@aetimberpine3 ай бұрын
Hey Harry I don’t worry about the size of the stars but rather the size of the union. In carbide create, I create a vector the size of the union and then I import a 50 stars file and then resize that file to fit within the union. Hope this helps.

How did you get the advanced vcarve to go through at the end and clean up your pocket lines? Do you have a discord? lmao
@aetimberpine3 ай бұрын
The advanced vcarve is a 2 tool toolpath. The pocketing tool, usually an endmill. And then the vbit. Carbide motion will prompt you to start with the endmill and once complete it will prompt for the vbit.
@CoreyWalker-i9w3 ай бұрын
Hey man, love the videos. Question for you since I cant find an answer anywhere. Have you ever had issues with the simulation. It will show like some pocketing part of my advanced vcarve, but it wont show the vbit cutout.. It just runs the tool showing nothing.. Any help man would really help! I appreciate you in advance.
@aetimberpine3 ай бұрын
When you see an advanced vcarve simulation, you’re seeing the final product. You won’t see and individual simulation of each tool like other programs. One thing you can see is that the final product has a slanted output edge such as a vcarve. A regular pocket toolpath will have a vertical wall rather than the slanted wall that the advanced vcarve provides. Make two squares and simulate both toolpaths to see clearly the walls/edges

Carving the stars is driving me crazy, they turn out anemic. Practicing on .5" mdf, 0.5" 60 deg v bit, choosing stock bottom which is 0.54", cutting depth of 0.1. . . why is this so hard for me to get right?
@aetimberpine3 ай бұрын
Hey Harry, Thanks for checking out the video. Try setting your max depth to stock bottom. Depending on the size of the union you’ll need to use the 60 deg vbit or the 90 deg vbit. For example my small unions at 10x7 I use a 60 deg vbit. My unions for medium flag (19.5x36) are 14 7/8x 10.5” and I recently started using a 90 deg vbit.

Plunging straight down is generally a bad idea as there are no true center cutting endmills (center point just spins in place and doesn't remove material so both tool and spindle are stressed). Either Drill a hole or pre-mill a pocket by ramping in (Carbide Create Pro only). The hole doesn't need to be the size of the keyhole tool, just as long as the center of the hole is removed and plunge rate is reasonable. Clearly, you can get away with plunging into wood, but once you work with metal, these bad habits will rear their ugly heads.
